We should bring back hats like this. In such a hat, I would be a force to be reckoned with.

Can’t wait for the Olympic skating competitions. Winter Olympics are the best!
World champions and Olympic favorites Ilia Malinin and the ice dance team of Madison Chock and Evan Bates turned the final night of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Saturday into less of a competition and more of a coronation. wtop.com/sports/2026/01/olym…

People in an Edward Hopper piece are always so alone, even if they’re together. Even his landscapes look alienated.

don’t understand why pastry production is skewed in favour of morning people. It’s 7pm and I’m want a fresh pastry but they’re nowhere to be found? What necessitates pastry chefs waking up at 6am to bake for the morning crowd? For what sin are evening dwellers being punished?

Ancient Roman fast food joints
Thermopolia were found throughout the #Roman Empire. Food and drink was kept in earthenware jars embedded in the holes in the counter, helping to keep them warm. The food they served was designed to be eaten on the move

Amazing tale of detective work it took to track down who the uncredited cover illustrator was, almost 50 years later. It’s yet another example of why the #PicturesMeanBusiness campaign spearheaded by @jabberworks is so badly needed.

For the knitters out there… Starting at about 2:02 in this very cute American Top 40 hit from 1972 by Dutch duo Mouth and MacNeal, the male singer mimics knitting—lever style!—as a symbol of happy domesticity. youtube.com/watch?v=OCO-jN_c…

I wish there was a book club/dog petting club where you could read a book, discuss the book and pet dogs. And if you forgot your book you could just pet dogs. Actually, maybe it's just petting dogs. I want a petting dogs club.

At first, I read this as the Rolling Stones. Whoops. It *would* explain Keith Richards, though…
#DYK that the Rollright Stones were traditionally thought to be the remains of a monarch and his courtiers petrified by a witch? 🧙‍♀️🗿 In reality they span nearly 2,000 years of Neolithic and Bronze Age development. ⚒️ 📍 Rollright Stones, Oxfordshire

Imagine, in the days before photography, you’re on a wonderful trip or Grand Tour and want to show your friends back home what it’s like. You’d draw it! (*too bad your post went down in a shipwreck)
These illustrations from letters were recovered by divers from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. (Not currently on display) #Bexhill

Ponder this... The Greek Muses might've been a source of inspiration for poetry, art, and music but, ironically, not for the verb ‘muse’ meaning “to become absorbed in thought.” This word comes from the Middle French word ‘muse’, meaning “the mouth of an animal” or “snout.”

This is incredible. Territorio De Zaguates in Costa Rica is a sanctuary where over a 1800 stray dogs live freely and are available for adoption. Bless this organization for doing this. 🎥youtube.com/@VinnyZanrosso

"Hello, I speak ancient Babylonian". is one hell of a pick-up line. Or maybe that's just me. This is brilliant;
An academic at Trinity College Dublin has helped Hollywood to breathe new life into a long-dead language. Marvel Studios’ Eternals features some characters speaking in Babylonian - which died out over two thousand years ago. #Eternals

Wow, such a huge bustle. It looks like two people in a horse costume.
A pinnacle of 1880s fashion, this bustled gown’s many intricate style details, full silhouette, and bright red color make it a dress to be admired now and envied then. Read more! fashionhistory.fitnyc.edu/18…

Listened to some REM. How to describe their style? Jangly guitars and groaning.

What I really need to know is, in that beautiful old tapestry in the background, why is there a lobster in the sky?

Out of the corner of your eye, when you’re in the mood for strawberry shortcake, it’s amazing how much a can of caulk sitting point-up on the kitchen counter looks like a can of whipped cream. Or maybe just my eye. :)
