My score for Final Fantasy Resonance on metacritic. The good: - It has the best turn based combat system the franchise has to offer - The best way to describe the game's story is as a rollercoaster ride. It starts off slowly before gradually picking up pace, only to slow down again before building towards an even greater climax. This approach might not appeal to everyone, but the story delivers some truly great moments. Even its quieter stretches never overstay their welcome, keeping the overall experience cohesive and well-paced. - The game is full of callbacks to the older games, not only for when you unlock the visions. But some quotes and certain areas are designed in a way that is inspired by the older games, such as Library of the ancients from FF5 - Speaking of FFV, the game shares that same sense of humor. It's quirky, playful, and genuinely funny. I especially loved the interactions between Lid and Jake, but what I appreciate most is how well it balances its humour with more serious moments, knowing exactly when to pull back and let the story breathe - Loved the exploration, it is an equal to the classic SNES games. You unlock the airship, fly over the map to find optional dungeons and islands. Sick. - The music of course, it is a Final Fantasy game after all - The game looks gorgeous, but there is something I'm going to talk about regarding the game's looks in the negative in a sec The bad: - While the art style is generally appealing, the game still shows its mobile game roots, particularly in the Vision CGI cutscenes, which I'm honestly not a fan of. This is a recurring issue with the game's overall presentation, as it still feels very mobile-esque in several areas It's overall a fantastic Final Fantasy game where I would say it's on par with the SNES releases
