Yess! Stealing it from a kid is completely different than catching a ball and being ‘obligated’ or ‘shamed’ into giving it to a kid.
Some adults wait their whole life to catch a ball!
This is dumb. Of course the fan who caught the ball has a right to the ball and to not be shamed for keeping it. I say this as 1. A Braves fan, and 2. Someone who goes to a few games a year, and would give the ball away. But as long as he didn’t steal it from the kid, stop teaching kids they are entitled to things…
I’ve always thought this was the stupidest etiquette in all of baseball.
If you are truly a fan of the team, keep the damn ball. Especially if you have a memorabilia wall.
