A 16-year-old girl is dead following a shooting in northeast Edmonton Sunday morning. Edmonton police responded to reports of a shooting near 139 Avenue and 32 Street around 6:50 a.m. on Aug. 16. Officers found the girl seriously injured and provided first aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. A follower told YEGWAVE the shooting occurred in a parking lot in the area. The homicide unit is investigating and is asking anyone with information to contact police.

WTF AI companies are purchasing large quantities of used and rare books. Scanning their contents to train models. Then turning the originals to pulp. The sum of human thought, digitized and shredded. Every book that gets scanned disappears from the physical world permanently. The knowledge survives only as training data inside a system no one can hold, browse, or resell. What used to sit on a shelf for centuries now exists as weights in a model that might get deprecated next quarter.

"And Think to Change Times and Laws." Read Daniel 7:25. In the KJV (King James Version) it reads: "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." This verse above sits right in the middle of the vision of the four beasts. The fourth beast is pagan Rome, and out of its ten horns rises this “little horn,” a power the Scriptures identify as papal Rome. This is the same entity or power we see later in Revelation as the beast and the Antichrist system, who rose up as an opposition against God and His people in the end times. Now, focus on these key words. “Think to change times and laws.” What exactly does that mean? "Times and laws" points especially to God’s own appointed times, the holy Sabbath day in particular, and to others of His unchanging moral law. Remember Daniel 2:21, where we are told that it is God alone who "changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings." That authority belongs to Him and Him only. Yet, papal Rome dares to try. Papal Rome dares to interfere with the very day God set apart for worship and tries to alter and replace other parts of God’s commandments too, to fit his own purposes. Not only is doing so political maneuvering. It is also outright blasphemy and rebellion. The horn exalts himself "against the Most High," speaks pompous words, wears down the saints through persecution, and sets out to rewrite the very structure of time and moral order. Take note of the careful, meticulous choice and use of words. It does not say "he will change" or "he has changed." It says he will think to change them. Why that phrasing? Well, because Scripture is showing us the proud, arrogant heart behind the action. The Aramaic word here suggests intent, planning, hoping, and imagining he can pull it off, like someone who presumes to sit in God's place. He carries that thought in his heart. He aspires to it. He sets out to do it. However, the passage stops short of saying papal Rome fully succeeds on it's own terms. Listen, brothers and sisters. Papal Rome thinks it can, but it cannot actually change God’s law. Its a facade. God's Law remains written in the books of heaven. The beast may think he’s powerful enough, since it is empowered by Satan himself and all, but his power is limited and temporary. Look at the very next part of the verse, "...and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." Papal Rome gets its season of oppression and attempted change, and all, but only a season and it only seems to have succeeded, but it has not. God has drawn the boundary lines. This is how the Bible exposes the inner attitude of the wicked. I am reminded of 2 Thessalonians 2:4, where the man of lawlessness exalts himself above everything called God and even sits in the temple declaring himself to be God. He declares himself as God. God does not declare papal Rome to be God. That same proud delusion is at work here, again. He believes his own lie that he can reorder reality itself. Friends, in all of this God is revealing the true character of this power. It's not merely raw force. It is a blasphemous arrogant, albeit delusional force. He does not just try to change things, but he also thinks he can steal what belongs only to the Most High. Yet the whole vision keeps reassuring us that God is still on the throne. The little horn’s time is numbered. Evil powers rage and scheme, just like Psalm 2 describes. But "He who sits in the heavens laughs" (Psalm 2:4). The attempt to change times and laws is doomed from the start, because time and law belong to God alone. Take heart in that. No matter how bold the opposition looks, our God reigns.
