A good number of people were interested in these odd little guys. They're spiky! They're vintage! They're Christmas ornaments from the future, or maybe an alien planet! Sets of 3. xingcat.bigcartel.com/produc…
More oddball light switch plates. This time in a melted copper/gold with some blue accents. They look really interesting and archaeological in real life. A little less impressive in a photo.
Second set of monoprint cards. These were done with the sort of "spare" pulls from my printing plate and a stamp I got at the thrift store. Even less traditionally Christmas, though the colors keep it in the holiday spirit.
Playing with a bit of monoprinting techniques, I created these abstract cards that kind of look (to me) like you used an AI engine to imagine cards from the 1940s.
Turning mistakes into...art? This was made up of a couple of eye molds that got too cloudy for a puppet I made and a couple experiments in making resin coasters. Put it together in a thrifted, painted box and it's a retro something!
Taking a break from the Christmas prep, I made a couple of colorful, tiny textured abstracts. They're glossy and look a bit like encaustic, though it's made with acrylic paint, paper towels, Mod Podge and high gloss varnish. Available on my art site xingcat.bigcartel.com/
Two versions of the same idea for cards. I had a large canvas I wanted to use in a new way, so I cut it up into ornament shapes. One minimal on a black background, the other is embellished on top of the cutout with a blue background. Which one (if either) do you like better?
A new week, a new reminder that I have a bunch of Ocean Waves paintings on sale on my site! xingcat.bigcartel.com/catego…
Another new card design. I wanted to do a winter moon look without doing, say, Santa's sleigh flying across. I think this is a nice holiday/winter design that could work the rest of the year, as well.
Next set of trial cards. I really liked the wreaths from last year, so I gave them a different background.
Short test run of abstract Christmas cards. Not sure if it's giving "abstract" or "amateur," but I kind of like the effect. I have a few more designs in the works right now.
Three new "Ocean Waves" paintings. These are the paintings that seem to be sold the most, so I made a bunch for upcoming shows. Also available on my site: xingcat.bigcartel.com/catego…
Let's predict...something OTHER than the US election results today! What design trends are OUT for 2025? My guesses:
1. Dark blue kitchens.
2. Dark grey houses with black trim.
3. Arched....anything interiors.
Your predictions?
A little “object d’art” that I made for literally no good reason except the materials and colors give off the “condemned carnival salvage” vibe I really like.
Sold the rest of the textured switch covers (I thought I'd be the only one who liked them...I love that's not the case). Working on art for holiday fairs, but there are lots of abstract paintings available, if you're looking for gifts in advance. xingcat.bigcartel.com/catego…
Moons! I really love these "rusty satellites," which are textured mixed media paintings of the moon (or a moon...who's to say it's ours?) with some embedded found object pieces of rust. Alien artifacts? Space trash? Who knows? xingcat.bigcartel.com/catego…
A fabulous, one-take video about social media and democracy from the excellent @PhilosophyTube youtu.be/4F9QzXjUB10?si=3qAy…
Some new abstract acrylic paintings in a circular motif that I made for the Providence Flea. They're now available on my art website xingcat.bigcartel.com/
