The last 20 years of @nextdayvideo (and its precursor)...
2001: "Why would we want to video our event?"
2007: "Why would we upload/stream video? People won't come to our events..."
2014: Conference videos on Youtube the expected norm
2020: Online video now *is* the event...
All 78 #pyconau videos we have permission to release are now up on YouTube (youtube.com/playlist?list=PL…), with high quality AV1 encodes going to the LA mirror soon.
All 77 #pyconau videos we have permission to release are up: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL…

All 50 #EverythingOpen talks we have permission to release are now on YouTube & the LA mirror.
If you downloaded videos 1-2 weeks ago - there's ~15 videos that needed additional post-production.

39 videos of #everythingopen are uploaded (some pending approval) - the remaining ~12 require more postprod (continuing today). I'll tweet again once they're all up (few days off).
LA mirror WebM encodes will start going up soon.

We're blocked uploading videos to the #EverythingOpen Youtube channel: it's a new channel and has a small daily upload limit. Anyone have a contact at Google / YouTube who can help? youtube.com/@everythingopen
All 27 #kiwipycon videos are now online youtube.com/playlist?list=PL…
#kiwipycon videos will start uploading in the next couple of days to NZ Pycon YouTube - sorry we're behind the usual speedy uploads but capacity during the event was limited.
Playlist for Kiwi Pycon XI is here (subscribe to know when they go up): youtube.com/playlist?list=PL…
#kiwipycon presenters who have mostly presented online since 2020; curious what it's like to present in-person again? despite looking super forward to IRL events again we (AV team) are wierdly missing some elements of remote... and figuring out how we implement next time ;)

A few have asked about our stance on NFTs:
NFTs are a scam. If you think they are legitimately useful for anything other than the exploitation of creators, financial scams, and the destruction of the planet the we ask that please reevaluate your life choices.
Peace ✌️
Because I keep getting asked - the #lca2022 "Standby! Back soon" video loop that played on stream if there was a technical glitch has been uploaded... youtube.com/watch?v=tsWsNF5K…
All videos from #lca2022 we have permission to release are now up on YouTube. WebM VP9 encodes (with subtitles) will start to appear on the LA mirror later today. youtube.com/playlist?list=PL…
WebM encodes (with subtitles) for #pyconline2021 have now been uploaded to the LA mirror (encoded long ago, but couldn't upload to mirror, now resolved). #lca2022 encodes will be going up soon also. mirror.linux.org.au/pub/pyco…
If you're interested in the rationale & systems behind how @nextdayvideo runs virtual events, I did a talk about it last weekend at #lca2022 youtube.com/watch?v=VHAhdXmL…
