I made a German vocabulary app. Its out now on iPhone and Android. It started with my own first weeks of German. Every app I tried began with words I already knew: Wasser, Hand, Winter, Hotel. English hands you hundreds of German words for free, and most apps make you learn them anyway. Vögel teaches the most frequent German words, drops what English already gives you, and keeps the 1000 you'd have to learn on purpose. Each one comes with a real sentence. You flip, rate, and the word comes back just before you'd forget it. Its free, with no account and no ads. 21 topic units, from work and school to shopping, food and travel. I am not a developer. I built this because I wanted it to exist. If you're learning German, or know someone who is, I'd like to hear what you think. voegel.app

Surrounded by losers Misfits and boozers Hanging by your fingernails You made one mistake You got burned at the stake You're finished, you're foolish, you failed There's always a hope On this slippery slope Somewhere a ghost of a chance To get back in that game And burn off your shame And dance with the big boys again It's a strange, strange game Such a shame, shame Yes a strange game You got to carry the blame In this strange game You're out on a limb And you're trying to get in You piled up the corpses Exhausted your sources Living right under a cloud The odds are against you The gods haven't blessed you You better get back on the rails Drill down on the data Keep pushing the paper The damps dripping down on the walls It's a million to one There's a place in the sun To dance with the big boys again It's a strange, strange game Strange, oh, so strange You don't even know my real name It's a strange game You got to carry the blame In this strange strange game You're out on a limb Trying hard to get in It's a strange game

A new political order is taking shape in Turkey, built on threats, judicial coercion, and the absorption of opposition into the regime. The regime is giving opposition mayors two choices: Join the AKP (governing party) or go to prison. Those with integrity go to prison. The others join the AKP. The judiciary is carrying out this operation. Sadly, Turkey’s judiciary has been turned into an instrument for clearing the way for a political project. Those within the judiciary who are troubled by this remain silent. They know what will happen to them if they speak out. We are facing a regime of threats and blackmail. The “Terror-Free Turkey” process must also be understood in this light. There is a pretense of negotiations with the “Kurdish movement.” But there are no real negotiations. There is co-optation, absorption, and instrumentalization. As I have written before: This political project has room for everything except the people. The investment fund scandal suddenly exposed the anatomy of the regime to the public. We will see how people respond to all of this.

Curiouser and curiouser!
A funded vendor. A bounty director. A 524,000 USDC bridge. A 54,000 USDC transfer to Crane’s address. Zero disclosure. The on-chain sequence is now public. See it for yourself: forum.polkadot.network/t/on-…

Thousands of pages of indictments, years of pretrial detention, and hundreds of years in prison sentences — none of this is new for Turkey. But it marks a serious rupture in the country’s multi-party history: a new phase of authoritarianism in which the main opposition and its presidential candidate become the target.
A Turkish prosecutor has called for the jailed mayor of Istanbul to be sentenced to more than 2,000 years in prison, accusing him of running a criminal organization. The opposition called the case politically motivated. nyti.ms/47yv6b8

Another grim day for the rule of law in Turkey. Journalists are now being summoned for questioning simply for sharing posts in support of Erdoğan’s jailed rival, Ekrem İmamoğlu. I’m sharing my New York Times piece, which argues that the West’s eagerness to do business with Erdoğan—while turning a blind eye to his assault on Turkish democracy—has only emboldened his crackdown on opponents at home.nytimes.com/2025/11/06/opini…

Different network, same problems:
🧵Why we REALLY need an "executive function" for Cardano. When we debate these ideas in public it creates division, and takes focus away from the ecosystem. Folks are no longer excited about business opportunities, they are stuck in debate...and we lose momentum.👇

Hey I have an idea that might come interesting for some, maybe we should listen economists on the topic of.. economics:
I shared my thoughts in the @Polkadot forum on the recent discussion to further reduce inflation. In these discussions, the relationship between inflation and economic resilience has largely been ignored. I created a report to educate on the topic and propose additional policies that I deem necessary, if the community votes to set up the protocol on a path of drastically reduced inflation. link 👇 forum.polkadot.network/t/pol…

Yesterday, Turkish Council of Europe youth delegate Enes Hocaoğulları was imprisoned in Ankara after denouncing, last March, the torture of peaceful protesters. This outrage exposes once more Erdogan’s systematic assault on democracy. The European Commission cannot remain silent: failing to act in the face of such repression is complicity. Europe must defend those who risk their freedom for truth and justice.

"... anti-corruption strategies are effective under some conditions, but can further decrease public good provisioning when leaders are weak and the economic potential is poor. Results suggest that ... proposed panaceas, such as transparency, may actually be harmful ..."
