Psalm 42:1 says: “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”
Next week, I will be hosting our @kta_law 9th edition of the @KTASymposium. Anyone who has put together an event knows that it takes its toll. Finding partners and sponsors who believe in what you’re doing is norrize !
Even harder is being a leader and also a counsellor to individuals on your team. They say time is a finite resource, and the time you give to one thing is time taken away from something else. That’s the sacrifice of having a vision and building towards it. In all of this, in the past, it was easy to rely on my own understanding, to toil believing that my own knowledge and abilities would be enough.
Did you know about phototropism? In primary school science, I was taught that light-sensitive proteins detect light and trigger changes that make a growing shoot bend towards it. The light also provides the energy the plant needs to flourish.
At the cellular level, receptors recognise particular signals and trigger a response, rather like a cell recognising a call it is equipped to answer.
This morning, I took a walk to Karveli for a pastry and coffee. A Sunday ritual I’ve come to enjoy with my significant other. I felt quite low and depleted, a feeling that is familiar at this time of year as we approach such a huge event. Coupled with the East Africa Carbon Markets Forum, the Y4P Fellowship and all the other projects we’ve been working on, it has been quite a season. Then there is being a father, and a man who wants to know and be present for the community around him.
As we took our walk this morning and listened to a sermon, I understood that longing to return to God’s presence can be like a plant turning towards the light that sustains it. And my, how the Lord has sustained me!
Social media this week has been awash with calls for miracles. A while ago, I conceptualised this 9th edition of the Symposium and had a mock-up designed of how I wanted the venue to look. I then realised that dreams need a lot of work 😅. Well, unless you give them to God.
The venues that could bring this dream to life were too expensive, and we had settled for one that was close enough to what I had envisioned. But something in me, the Spirit, kept leading me towards the Marriott. And when I finally walked into that hall, I was standing in my dream.
Then came the hard part. The money to make all of it happen.
I remember telling my team, “This event will show you all the power of the Lord I serve.” By the time I said this, we had only a quarter of the budget we needed and about 14 days to the event. Imagine the faith required to say that with three-quarters of your budget still unfunded! 😅
Now, with just three or so days to the event, God indeed reigns. We have covered our budget, held our first press conference at the Uganda Media Centre, and will be hosting the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area here in our Kampala !!!
I cannot begin to tell you how humbled I am that my God listens.
This is my miracle. That I serve a God who validates my dreams, and because of the knowledge of this love, I am at peace. I know that I am not alone.
It reminds me of the way my son asks me to stay with him as he falls asleep. He doesn’t need me to do anything extraordinary. He just needs to know that I am there. Life is easier when you know you are safe, next to and covered by your dad.
Perhaps that is what I have been learning through this season. That I do not always have to rely on my own strength or understanding. That when I feel depleted, I can return to the source that sustains me. Just as the plant turns towards the light, my soul knows where to turn.
I post this here to share my testimony, but also to remind myself, on another day in the future when I may feel low or overwhelmed, that God is still in the business of doing miracles ☀️

This communication is directed to Pastor Charles Kaisaali Kiwanuka regarding Mr. @FrankGashumba 's position during the discussion. Mr. Gashumba articulated his inquiry and argument with precision, and notably, he did not express disbelief in God. However, his contention remains firm: none of the prophets, pastors, or messengers present possess the ability to perform miracles or provide healing to individuals who are ill.

His Worship Lumunye Timothy, Chief Magistrate of the Law Development Centre (LDC) Court, presided over a moot court at the Makerere University School of Law as part of a teaching and assessment programme organised by the Public Interest Law Clinic.
The moot involved a hypothetical dispute addressing contemporary issues in tort law, particularly defamation arising from digital communication. Through the exercise, students gained practical experience in courtroom procedure and oral advocacy while applying legal principles to emerging challenges in the digital environment.
The engagement reflects the LDC Court’s broader mandate as a teaching court and its contribution to experiential legal education. By participating in such exercises, law students strengthen their ability to connect classroom theory with courtroom practice

Listening to Almorie Naggayi, our Miss Uganda 2026, speak about the inner person and how that reflects our true beauty, I found myself thinking about Brenda Nayonjo and the journey that brought us to this moment.
Fifteen years of showing up, believing and doing the work. Thirteen queens crowned. And this year, a solid partnership with the Government of Uganda through the @TourismBoardUg.
Serving on the board of the @MissUgFoundtn , I’ve come to appreciate what it takes to keep building something you believe in. We often celebrate the crowning moment, but behind it are years of persistence, carrying a vision long before others see what you see.
Brenda, congratulations. Your journey reminds us that there is a reward in hard work, consistency and an unwavering belief in the purpose God has placed in your heart. Sometimes it takes fifteen years. Keep going.
And congratulations to our reigning @MissUgOfficial, Almorie Naggayi. May the beauty you spoke about shine through all you do. 🇺🇬👏🏾

Trinah ordered from SHEIN through a personal shopper.
The size and fit were right. The product matched its description. The cost was fair. And an order expected in 3 weeks arrived in about 2½.
That’s what a good cross-border online shopping experience can look like.
How do we make experiences like this easier and more common across Africa?

Digital Number Plates Saga: Parliament Approved the Fees. Same Parliament is Questioning Where the Fees Came From.
The media has been awash with public complaints about how the new number plate fee of UGX 714,300 came to be.
The Parliamentary Committee on Physical Infrastructure chaired by Mr Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama, MP, seems to have tapped into a visceral public anger at anything government and questioned why Ugandans are being asked to pay what appears like an exorbitant fee for new number plates issued under a larger ITMS system.
We did some digging.
It turns out that @Parliament_Ug can actually find that answer from @Parliament_Ug.
Here’s a May 2023 joint committee report of the Committees of Defense and Internal Affairs as well as the Committee of Physical Infrastructure that the aforementioned Mr Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama now heads.
THEY recommended APPROVAL of these fees.
You can find this minor detail on pages 19 and 20 of this 30 page report. In fact, they approved $200, which in today’s shillings would equate to UGX 800,000.
So, when we keep saying that what is happening in parliament now is either theater to distract the masses or a mass show of inability to read and grasp issues, this is what we mean.
If indeed these fees are as unconscionable as the MPs are saying, they can’t escape blame by posturing and fooling the masses.
They own this mess just as much the Head of State and the technocrats whose arrest they’re ordering for the cameras.
A conclusion can therefore be drawn that on those fees, the people’s own representatives betrayed the people and now want to throw the blame elsewhere.
They want to have their cake and also eat it too.
I think it’s lawyers who say one can’t approbate and reprobate. (The penguin in me might have used it wrongly but you get the drift).
More to come…

Joint Stock Limited, Number-plates, Security Cameras etc: Mafias Pushing an Agenda?
A lot of people reacting to that parliamentary session have missed a lot of nuance.
We’ve investigated this issue and while there are legitimate questions that must be asked of government’s dealings with Joint Stock Limited or any other major contractor at @MoWT_Uganda, this really shouldn’t be one of them.
When you listen to Mr Jim Muhwezi’s submission at the end, that’s where the fight is. It’s Mafias wanting a piece of the pie and being frustrated by the Russians.
President @KagutaMuseveni and his team identified a challenge around security, revenue leakages in MV registration and road safety.
They got a Russian company that has worked on setting up cameras and related road infrastructure in many countries.
A company that’s heavy on the security front. They did some sort of contract with them that allows that company to invest in the entire architecture that underpins security and safety of person and property on the roads.
The Russians invested, with the view of recovering some of their investment from speeding fines and stuff like that. This is not unusual and certainly not unlike investments like the Entebbe expressway one or the one NSSF said to be discussing with government on the Jinja Expressway.
In order to operationalize this, they had to also throw in the numberplate issue, MV registration that Ministry of Works itself took from @URAuganda and I believe MV inspection as well.
Now, you might notice that each of those blocks that the President asked to be consolidated and handed to one player-for efficiency and lower cost-had a player or two. (Letter in frame 3 might give you a hint)
So, the numberplate guys will fight, the guys who used to do security cameras will fight, MV registration guys will fight etc.
They all have a way to access legislators, ministry officials and the press.
You therefore end up with an echo chamber of misinformation and accusations of corruption and wastage of resources.
To the outcomes;
-Careful analysis will show you that @PoliceUg now captures criminals faster if there’s video evidence.
The President no longer complains so much about that. You might recall that when he had the Late Gen Lokech moved to Police, this was an issue he constantly complained about. That was around the time General Katumba was nearly killed by armed boda boda guys along Kisota road.
That security bottleneck is clearly being solved.
As an aside, you might recall that the President recently asked for firing and jailing of some guys who pocketed billions in security camera-related corruption. Dig deeper and you’ll understand why the Russians are being fought on that front.
-URA is now more efficient in collecting taxes from car registration. It’s seeing an increase in this area, meaning revenue leakages are reducing.
-The hundreds of thousands of boda bodas whose ownership one couldn’t trace and thus the types that were used to constantly commit drive by shootings have reduced etc
You might notice that boda boda shootings aren’t so common these days; etc
These are tangible wins from the President’s directive and insistence.
But they won’t be spoken about because they don’t fit the agenda people wanna sell.
That @MoWT_Uganda leaders are in parliament seemingly acting oblivious isn’t an accident. These are economic fortune hunters that are likely part of the “mafias” that the President referred to in the video in Frame 2.
The bungled rollout of EPS (which the President was referring to) and the subsequent blame game wasn’t an accident. It was the mafia at play.
They did the same thing in frustrating the MV inspection project (SGS) and lost taxpayers more than 109 Billion. (See Frame 4). This deal messes up their bread.
So, please don’t pay much attention to the noise of barking dogs. Just watch the wagon moving.
