Imposter syndrome One of the questions I struggle with, and I’ve been asked a few times lately, is, what am I, am I an historian. A lot of the time I suffer imposter syndrome. I am not academically trained, I don’t have any qualifications at all (long story). Though I have a book coming out I have very little published. I feel very honoured that I know and get to talk to a whole range of historians and authors. World renowned people in their field. But who am I. How do I describe me when asked. I’ve come to the conclusion I have to own it. You may disagree but I am a historian. I can talk openly with some knowledge on certain periods of history. I understand the principles of research and challenge. I am confident enough to give presentations on history stating facts, conjecture, using research, coming to conclusions etc. For all those out there in the same position. Don’t be afraid to own it. You are all brilliantly knowledgable in your own right. Being a historian who researches, carries the baton and educates others is important. To keep these stories and messages alive for future generations. I may amateur but I am a historian. #History #books #education
