holy shit, this is literally the stimulation hypothesis.
We placed the fruit fly brain inside Odyssey-3, a frontier world model. The lil’ guy is now flying around totally imagined, simulated worlds all by itself 🫶

People don't understand Nikola Tesla's insane IQ. Tesla literally read all 100 volumes of Voltaire's works as a teenager. Tesla was accused by his teachers of cheating on Calculus tests because he solved the problems in his head. Tesla claimed to have never built an invention in reality that he didn't already design in his head. Tesla could recite Goethe's Faust almost entirely from memory. Tesla worked 18 hours a day in Edison's lab. Edison even said "I have had many assistants, but you take the cake." He often worked from 10:30am to 5am. You are very much not operating at Tesla's level. When you study the greats of history you really realize the true level of genius that these people operate at.

It takes a psychopathic and sociopathic level of dedication to make it out of this system, you cant just want it enough to try when its convenient, if you want to be immense, top 0.0001% you have to push yourself to places that are not human The sheer intensity of self command, the willingness to become indifferent to distraction, social approval, temporary discomfort and the endless invitations to dilute your own potential, delay gratification, cut costs, focus explicitly on a tiny number of variables for a fixed period of time, to not even entertain the possibility it can be any other way, you have to want it more than anyone else with an obsession that borders on madness, you're adapting whilst they're resting, dude is chilling with his girlfriend cuddling, you are in the trenches scheming more upward mobility, whilst they're complaining your hunting for edges and scanning relentlessly for your next advantage You have to become extraordinarily selective about what receives access to your mind, your time, your energy and your future. Most people are not defeated by one catastrophic event, they are slowly yet surely disassembled by a thousand small concessions, weak friendships, poor financial decisions, fragmented attention, cheap pleasures, emotional volatility and years spent negotiating with standards they already know they must uphold daily relentlessly Treat life as an integrated system, protect biology, sharpen judgement, accumulating capital, building competence and refuse to allow temporary emotional states to govern permanent decisions Even when you're winning you have to be violently honest about where you are slacking and where you are losing momentum, even 30 minutes a day over a year is 182.5 hours, or about 4.5 full time work weeks, you must push harder and you must enjoy the process of knowing you are willing to go further than the next man,I can take more pain than you I can forget my emotions quicker and more repeatedly than you can, my decisions are more objective than yours are, I will outlast you in spirit and action There is something almost frightening about the individual who can sustain intelligent effort for years without requiring the world to continually reassure him that victory is coming He is not merely working harder, he is becoming increasingly difficult to interrupt, corrupt, discourage or disorganise repeatedly to turn his spirit, mind and soul into one organised system of task decimation for a broader task of fuliflling the committment he made to himself many nights ago

I hate to break it to you, but if you want to be successful and you aren't from a rich family, you have to sacrifice a lot. You have to sacrifice your health, your mental health, your personal life, and your reputation. For every rich family and every trust fund baby you see, there was someone in that family who sacrificed everything to build that wealth. It takes a psychopathic and sociopathic level of dedication to make it out of this corrupt system.

I own land and property in exactly these areas and will keep buying land and property in these areas This is exactly my post-AGI thesis too Scarse coastal or mountain land with clean air
once ASI is here and living somewhere because of "work" becomes pointless, people with money will just move to the nicest places on earth Mediterranean climate, ocean, mountains, good food, beautiful isolated towns places like this are going to become insanely valuable probably worth buying real estate there now

This new creatine study is insane. People who never trained took 10g of creatine a day and gained more lean tissue (2.43 lbs) than people who were lifting 3x a week with no creatine (0.31 lbs). Here's the breakdown: (1/18)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 2.43 lb was DXA “lean mass,” not 2.43 lb of muscle. Creatine increases intracellular water, which DXA counts as lean tissue. The study didn’t measure hypertrophy, and exercise vs no-exercise wasn’t randomized. Does not show creatine beats lifting. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Incredible work @jgebbia and team Amazing design and agent experience in a US govt product is mind blowing 🤯
Today we’re launching America.gov, a single front door to the federal government. Instead of opening a bunch of tabs across different agency sites and trying to figure out which information actually matters to you, you can ask America a question and get the relevant answer from across 29,000+ official government websites, with the source and what to do next.

how can you not believe in God when octopuses DREAM and otters have a favorite rock they carry around in a little SKIN POCKET and cows have BEST FRIENDS and bees are out there communicating the coordinates of flowers through INTERPRETIVE DANCE and they have REGIONAL DIALECTS?? cats are PURRING at frequencies associated with bone healing??? forests get absolutely incinerated and respond by growing FLOWERS??? dolphins literally invent NAMES for themselves and yell them across the ocean??? penguins are waddling around Antarctica looking for the PERFECT LITTLE ROCK to give their beloved??? CROWS REMEMBER YOUR FACE. THEY TELL OTHER CROWS ABOUT YOU. THEY TELL THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT YOU. YOU CAN HAVE GENERATIONAL BEEF WITH A BIRD. goats have ACCENTS. rats GIGGLE when you tickle them. elephants mourn their dead. whales make SONGS and then OTHER WHALES LEARN THE SONG and suddenly everybody across the ocean is singing the new hit single. monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN. sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an OCEAN they have never seen, disappear into it for like THIRTY YEARS and then somehow come back to THE SAME BEACH??? birds can see COLORS THAT WE CANNOT SEE. there are colors happening RIGHT NOW that we don’t even get to know about. there are sea slugs that eat algae and STEAL ITS CHLOROPLASTS and then are just like great thanks I’ll be PHOTOSYNTHESIZING NOW. there are mushrooms communicating underground. there are seeds sitting in the dirt for DECADES like no actually I will wait. squirrels plant MILLIONS OF TREES because they simply cannot remember where they put their snacks. A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG, DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC SOUP, REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND LEAVES. and you’re telling me a tiny acorn knows how to become a 70-foot oak tree??? nobody tells it what to do??? it just has TREE INSTRUCTIONS INSIDE IT??? your body started as ONE CELL. ONE. and that cell divided itself into a brain that can think about its own existence and eyes that can look at stars and hands that can hold somebody else’s hands and a heart that runs on ELECTRICITY without you even asking it to??? the iron in your BLOOD was made inside a STAR. I’M SORRY????? we are walking around on a wet rock covered in bioluminescent oceans and singing whales and laughing rats and birds holding lifelong grudges and flowers exploding out of FIRE and somehow we’re supposed to act like this is a normal place to live?????????
how can you not believe in God when octopuses dream, otters have a favorite shell that they carry all their lives, cows have best friends, bees have different "dialects" of dance depending on the region, cats purr at a frequency that accelerates bone healing, the forest grows flowers first after a fire, dolphins give each other names and respond to them, penguins make proposals by giving each other the most beautiful pebble, crows will tell their children about you, goats have accents, rats giggle when you tickle them, sea slugs become powered by the sun just by green algae and squirrels plant millions of trees every year just by forgetting where they've buried their nuts!
