🎓 Twelve graduates. Twelve college acceptances. A new chapter for Oakland’s young leaders. All 12 students in the LoveLife Foundation’s summer college prep Class of 2026 are headed to four-year colleges, including Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley and UC Davis. Behind those acceptances are young people already making a difference: 💜 De’Arra volunteers at the Food Bank and interns at Highland Hospital. ⚖️ Irshad interned with attorney Adante Pointer and hopes to represent people facing an unjust legal system. 🩺 Da’Mya worked three jobs during high school to help support her mother, who has cancer. She hopes to pursue a career in medicine. 🤖 David is attending Stanford while working on robotics at NVIDIA — and wants to bring what he learns back to West Oakland. For 29 years, Donald Lacy and the LoveLife Foundation have carried forward his daughter LoEshe’ Lacy’s vision of empowering young people and stopping violence. These graduates are part of that continuing legacy. Now, the foundation is raising scholarship funds to help all 12 students take their next steps. In our latest article, JR Valrey speaks with Lacy about the graduates’ achievements, the role of Black history in their education and how the community can support their college journeys.sfbayview 📰 Read the full story and find donation information: sfbayview.com/2026/10/twelve… Share their story.
