The Student Loan Forgiveness Plan is a terrible policy that
❌ punishes responsible behavior
❌ punishes success
❌ sets wrong expectations
❌ does not solve the underlying problem (it makes it worse)
🧵
Student Loan Forgiveness Plan sets the wrong expectations because it signals to students going forward that help is on the way and actually creates an incentive not to pay back their loans. Why should a 20 year old students work hard to earn money and pay back their debt now?

You can be as religious as you like, but you can't lecture your co-workers about how your religion is the one true one, or press them to convert, or call them infidels if they don't, or try to get them fired, or insist that the company declare your religion its official religion.
