Guess who else executes criminals for the whole public to see so that the masses fear those in power? The Islamic Republic of Iran, the Taliban, the Islamic State, and the communist North Korea, to name a few. If you want to go back in time just a little, there were the Nazis in Germany under Hitler, the fascists in Italy under Mussolini, and the communist Soviet Union under Stalin. They all executed people in the public square! And now, American joins the ranks of regimes that have turned executions into public spectacles to project power and instill fear among the masses in recent times! Who would have thought? I certainly did not, not even in my wildest dreams!
