Before you give yourself a clap on the back @OCallaghanJim the fact is at no time under EU Law was Ireland obliged to support these Romanians living here in Ireland unless they were self supporting. But no that criteria is never applied until they commit crime here.

Charity of the Month! Ireland’s prostitution charity Ruhama publishes its annual report, and separately annual audited accounts. It’s eye-opening.
Before we begin, and in answer to what Garda Commissioner Drew Harris did next, he’s now on the Ruhama board.
Last year, Ruhama’s income increased 25% to €2.5m with nearly all coming from the taxpayer. Around 60% goes on staff, though it’s coy on its project expenditure, with its CEO Barbara Condon presumably on €80-90,000 excluding pension costs. It has increased its staff by 33% in the year to 43.
In terms of its core function of helping prostitutes, particularly those trafficked and coerced, transition to other employment, it’s hard to know how genuine its "clients" are, and whether dubious “prostitutes”, nearly all non-Irish are using Ruhama to access employment and housing.
It makes much of its “welfare checks” conducted with our friend, Superintendent Derek Maguire’s Garda Organised Prostitition Investigation Unit. As noted by others, like Senator Michael McDowell, Gardai with Ruhama recently conducted 266 welfare checks during Operation Global Chain and didn’t identify a single trafficking victim which is just not credible. Welfare checks have become a substitute for law enforcement (which should be like shooting fish in a barrel) and Ruhama welfare checks are dubious.
We no longer have any faith in Ruhama which in 2026, appears to be a self-sustaining (and expanding) NGO and its annual report is a word salad of Li(ngo) Bi(ngo). We don’t actually know what the final infographic below means, what is a “non-cisgender” which apparently excludes what they call “transwomen”?

This is the fundamental problem with Irish media now. They aren’t independent of the State anymore, worse, they aren’t independent of the govt of the day.
They rely on politicians to pay their wages now. It’s why journalists parrot the party line, why they publish its propaganda and crucially, why they don’t ask awkward questions anymore.

The plan would appear to be to move thousands of former IPAS into social housing as a priority category while much of the private sector rental and buys are going to people on work permits. We have the evidence of our own eyes apart from the statistics.
MATT TREACY's research suggests that, with up to 40% of social housing going to people born overseas in some areas, and with IPAS centres almost full since 2024, it is clear that former IPAS residents are increasingly being pushed into emergency and social accommodation.

In case you're young and don't speak fluent propaganda, "massively unfair" in the headline translates to "normal".
Oh, and the 236% increase in applications proves, what the 'far right' have been saying for years - word about Ireland's confetti passports is out across the globe and economic opportunists are scrambling now that the government has been pressured into behaving like a minimally functional state.
Numbers applying for Irish citizenship soars by 236% ahead of 'massively unfair' rules change irishexaminer.com/news/polit…

The problem with the national children's hospital fiasco is that no single government minister has been held to account. No single minister has resigned.
The hospital is a litmus test for how broken Irish democracy truly is. Other big government failures are often in polarising so an embattled minister can rally the troops and lean into ideology. This obscene, grotesque, incomprehensible failure by several ministers and governments is not a partisan issue. It is simple economics. Every informed citizen should be, and likely is, outraged and that outrage should drive consequences.
And yet...nothing happens.
That is the definition of a crippled democracy - a government that operates in a bubble free from any consequences because they have castrated the national media - who have downplayed and distracted from this outrage - through financial handouts and because their 'opposition' - SF - has acted as a silent partner for the past two decades and care more about Palestine and abortion (social and ideologically-driven policy) than holding the government's feet to the fire on bread and butter economic issues.
When FF/G can overspend on a single project by €1.6 billion and shrug it off, then they know they can get away with anything.
Aontú found out there are more problems in the Children's Hospital.
316 manual sliding doors need fixing, 126 of the 244 bathroom pods had drainage issues, 11 of the 22 operating theatre floors require remediation. 3 which have to be redone a third time.

How can one government spend so much money without it ever seeming to make a difference to anyone's life? #Budget2027
It can’t be acknowledged enough that @Ben_Scallan always finds himself alone in asking the questions that 75% of regular Irish people would ask and that the rest of MSM purposely don’t.

RTE continues to abuse its position to foist voices upon us which are pro-Nato, pro-weapons spending, anti-neutrality or anti-Triple Lock or a combination thereof.
Its weekend flagship current affairs programme today features Dan O'Brien. Somehow, I doubt there'll be criticism of all the weapons spending .... €1bn on armoured cars and cannon, €500m on radar to replace the radar we gave to Ukraine, €600m with Airbus for helicopters and surveillance planes, €250m for a new ship, €40m for Javelin missiles, €20m for drone missiles, €60m for array sonar which will destroy marine life etc, etc.
Brazen, but then again Brendan O'Connor is paid €240,000 a year for 4-hrs week on-air for 40 weeks a year at an utterly bust basketcase 100% dependant on a government decision to back the outfit.

Whilst their focus is on illegal entry into UK, it's having a secondary impact on disrupting illegal entry from Britain to N Ireland to Ireland.
Meanwhile, our Gardai are twiddling their thumbs...

Irish Govt also provides information on voting & elections in 16 foreign languages??
You don’t need to be an Irish citizen to vote in local elections.
the Govt are drastically underestimating the effects of this and
the importance of a shared language to promote integration.

YOU deserve to know what is going on in your own country.
YOU deserve an open book, not unanswered questions.
That’s why I’m introducing my Recording of Nationality and Immigration Status Bill 2026.
The public has a right to accurate, transparent data on crime, who is living in Ireland and our immigration system.
Transparency is not something to fear @MichealMartinTD
🇮🇪 Irish PM Micheál Martin tells me Ireland is “not overrun” by immigrants -- as nearly 1 in 4 residents are now foreign-born.
In an exclusive interview at Fox News in New York, I pressed the prime minister on immigration, asylum, crime, Ireland’s housing crisis — and the killing of Irish-American Jamey Carney. 🇺🇸
Martin acknowledged failures in Ireland’s asylum system, saying it “was too slow” in processing applications, but said the government has since accelerated applications and appeals.
On crime, @MichealMartinTD said he was open to publishing crime statistics by nationality, while pushing back on linking crime to nationality. 📊
“I’m not so sure that murder or crime is specific to any nationality, if I’m honest,” the Taoiseach said.
“I have no issue with data… As far as I’m concerned, data is important.”
Martin called it a “shocking, shocking murder” and said Ireland is looking at tightening its laws, including moving faster when asylum applications are rejected.
At the same time, Martin defended legal migration as “part of the Irish economic story,” pointing to Ireland’s expanding economy and demand for skilled workers from across the EU and beyond. 🇪🇺
🇺🇸 The comments come after President Trump warned during his Ireland visit about Europe’s approach to immigration.

One of the most shameful elements of FF/G's mass immigration scheme is that it is a declaration that they do not trust their own people.
Away from the health services - which is a ponzi scheme with shortfall driven by mass immigration - across higher education in particular, but elsewhere in media, civil and mechanical engineering, finance, etc. the state has aggressively hired from overseas instead of giving native talent a chance to step up.
An incredible amount of talented and motivated Irish people have gone abroad because they "didn't have the CV" for a job and instead some outsider was drafted in.
Talented Irish people have to go abroad - many of the best will never return - for the break they were not given by their own.
It's a terrible betrayal.

"Shur, the health system would collapse..."
In the last few weeks we have found out Cork University Hospital does not want to employ Irish graduates 😲😲, foreign doctors are upset because they will have to take English language tests and wait a bit longer for their ticket to the world (our passport) 😠
AND now to top it all off we have found out doctors who are treating our vulnerable populations are not all garda vetted, we can't even be sure who they are and they probably don't speak English!!
I'm so angry, if you are in hospital you are not well, you deserve the best of care with all the taxes we pay, yet you could be treated by an unqualified doctor, who can't speak English and may be a criminal.
