I’m just going to say it: The number of engineers not using AI coding is approaching zero. We are not talking about it because the public has all the nuance of a witch trial, but I assure you it’s true.

Pretty sure that this guy figured it out though…
John Carpenter says nobody has figured out the ending of The Thing correctly yet "Every idea that people have is not the right one, I know the right one... no one has guessed it" xitter.cf/AcademyMuseum/status/2…

This is what a good-faith interrogation of human consciousness looks like. Take note @curaffairs

Always noted that no musician sings about watching movies and TV more than Neil. It almost takes on a spiritual dimension. A Man Needs a Maid, Speakin' Out, Motion Pictures (For Carrie), Thrasher...

It's crazy that there's a tool out there that's become vital to they way I do my job, parent my kids, and make major life decisions; and yet we barely spend more on it than AI
TIL that global spending on alcohol is still larger than AI infrastructure spending this year ($1.7T vs $1.5T)

if you think valve’s engineers aren’t also using AI coding tools in 2026 i really don’t know what to tell you
Steam just got a little faster. Valve has released a new Steam update that improves startup performance. In a user test, Steam launched in 5.23 seconds, beating the 5.47 seconds claimed by Epic “vibe-coded” launcher Now Steam has pushed a major update and is faster than epic games >Improved startup performance >New Big Picture features >A new screensaver system, including the classic bouncing Steam logo >Steam Controller improvements > Several Linux improvements and fixes >A new experimental video codec for Remote Play >Lots of smaller fixes and quality-of-life improvements

The majority of games, music, shows etc. were already slop well before AI.

yeah man tech people are known for never listening to weird music, never watching movies, and never reading books. thats definitely all of the the tech people i know. illiterate.
Tech people will never have taste because they didn’t spend their formative years discovering new bands, flipping through old magazines, watching obscure movies and reading books that weren’t required for English class. They don’t understand taste is cultivated over a lifetime.

There is not a single person on earth who wouldn’t have an existential crisis if their life’s work was threatened by AI like this. It doesn’t mean they’re bad people or that they’re doing harm. You are allowed to mourn for yourself. You have a right to your sadness. It’s human.

I honestly have zero sympathy for these people. zero. Either advanced math is just an expensive hobby with no real-world application, or I'm glad AI "massacred" their field; let their grand go to cancer research. Or, advanced math has actual real-world application and benefits humans, then AI solving these problems is a good thing. These people are crying about "OMG I can't take credit of things I worked on anymore..." Boohoo. Imagine a cancer researcher cried about AI discovered cancer treatment because "I worked on it for 16 years and now I can't get a Nobel Prize for that."

As an arts kid I always hated STEM opinions. Now that I’m also a STEM dude I fucking hate non-STEM opinions too. Everyone is stupid and wrong.

This is still the normie stance on AI generated code. They literally have 0 clue whats going on right now and have even less of a clue where its heading. You can only stick your head in the sand for so long...

Devs: "QA found another bug." "How do we fix it?" "I don't know. No one wrote it. It's all slop code." Multiply that by 20000 times. Per game.

James Williamson contradicts this theory. Laid down some of the nastiest guitar ever put to wax on Raw Power and then became an electronics engineer

What’s sad is that after T2, Chris Cornell purchased the warehouse for Soundgarden music videos. We haven’t had an operational lava factory on American soil since Reagan. Alaska and Hawaii don’t count due to the (bullshit) legal barriers of inter-state pyroclastic transport
