I've had the privilege of reviewing Maraam Dwidar's excellent new book @UChicagoPress
It provides answers to several long-standing questions on lobbying. And, most importantly, it can provide HOPE in times where many might need it the most ...

Excited to have presented our first #ReCiv output at the @psaitweets public policy workshop 2025! ReCiv discovers the impact of crisis and turbulence on interest groups/CSOs. Delighted to be working with amazing colleagues @wmjunk and Rasa Bortkeviciute on this exciting project
I've talked to @Altingetdk about threats to civil society. We discussed the European Court of Auditors' new recommendations about more transparency, but also conditionality connected to EU's values.
Read in this interview why this can be a problem.

I can also highly recommend this analysis by @Gitteyoung of conflicts in the European Parliament around funding for green NGOs.
These are extremely important & worrying debates, and it is great to see them covered thoroughly in the press.

Are lobbyists influential? The public has long thought so, but applied political science since lobbying registration data emerged (late 90s) struggled to produce evidence that it does. In a new review
@wmjunk @heathbrown & I chart a wave of research showing how lobbying matters.

The review is here: annualreviews.org/content/jo… and shows that better data to observe lobbying preferences and actions has proliferated in the US and Europe (which is the scope of our review), leading to different conclusions.

In this new article, we revisit theories about structural power & link them to patterns in preference attainment across 7 European countries & at EU level.
With @michelecrepaz & @MarcelHanegraaf #InterCov @PSJ_Editor
