Platforms like @ai16zdao will capture this value as these new apps will by definition require trustless, peer2peer transactions that enable economic value transfer between agents & their human end users. Props to @notthreadguy for calling out @RaoulGMI for missing the boat
Platforms like @ai16zdao amplify the value of the foundation models because they create meaningful context, actions that extend into real world applications, and goals that enable the agents to evaluate their progress to deliver real value to end users...
@RaoulGMI is so clearly missing the forest for the trees. It’s like saying all web2 startups were grifters because they didn’t build the internet infrastructure that enabled the apps to function…
Ive always been fascinated by Open Source innovation. What @shawmakesmagic @dankvr are cooking up is truly groundbreaking, particularly how they are building REAL automation into the @ai16zdao, providing strong incentives for valuable and sustained contributions to #elizaOS.
2025 will be the year that 2 autonomous #AI agents will decide to work together to start a business.
I feel like I might look back at this period later on in life as the epochal shift before / after I discovered @ai16zdao. The future will be agentic.
Welp that was a short run w/ the @solana saga. Had the full protection package on w/ front & back screen protectors. Went for a bike ride w/ the device in a fanny pack. Didnt fall, just bad luck with an apparently bad HW design. Screen isn’t cracked. Just LCD. Phone is inoperable

A little #DePIN tip for ya:
Ask the hard questions until you:
A) understand the answer.
B) discover that the answer is unknown still.
Either is fine, but make sure you get to one of 'em. We are going to see a BOATLOAD of projects that will prey on your FOMO, relying on your impatience overpowering your common sense.
Do not fall for FOMO. Here are a 3 questions you can ask about any DePIN project that'll help you get to A or B above, followed by 3 red flags you should watch out for.
1⃣ Is this project providing fundamental value?
It doesn't necessarily have to deliver that value today. It's been said that the biggest projects in DePIN may be yet to come, so not delivering today is fine. However, it has to be able to deliver something real; radio coverage, image collection, data collection, privacy etc.
2⃣ Does this project have a SME (Subject Matter Expert, preferably more than one) on its core team?
Look for the expertise on the team. How long have they been doing "the thing"? Do they clearly have a deep understanding of their tech? Do they have the ability to actually deliver on the expertise side?
If their main expertise is in marketing, well, know what you're getting yourself into.
3⃣ What do they talk about the most?
The vast majority of all their public conversations should be about providing the service; what it is, how they do it, how it's going, challenges they face, and wins.
The flip side of that leads us into the Red Flags:
❌Red Flag 1: "Earn more tokens with us."
If the primary message is about the tokens, beware. ☣️ The fundamental value of a DePIN project is the service provided. The tokens are just an incentive mechanism. They are powerful and important, but any project that talks mostly about "You'll earn more/more valuable tokens with us" is not focused on delivering the fundamental value of a Physical Infrastructure Network.
❌Red Flag 2: "We're like [xxx] project, but better."
Typically that means they're much better at relieving you of money , but worse at doing the actual thing. The networks effects of a project with a serious head start make it unlikely that any copycat project will be better. Not impossible, but unlikely.
🔎If the "We're like them but better" claim is made, make absolutely sure you clearly understand HOW. If the only thing that's "better" is the token incentives, well, tread VERY carefully.
❌Red Flag 3: Piggyback projects.
Projects that allow you to dual mine their token on another project's hardware for providing the same service should be treated with enormous suspicion. This goes back to the first point: How are they providing fundamental value?
✴️ We're *probably* heading towards a crypto bull market. No one knows when. This recent little pump hopefully reminded you of your weaknesses with FOMO as well as renewed hope in the possibilities of DePINs.
Be careful, have fun, make friends, learn stuff, and be good to each other. Rock on!
Preach!
There’s no room for tourists in #DePin
Imagine if ur local electric utility built their distribution lines to your home because they thought 2024 was going to be a hot year and you’d be willing to pay a lot for air conditioning, then shut down when weather got cold. – at San Diego, CA
As the next wave comes into DePIN, lemme give ya some advice: Don't do #DePIN *just* to earn tokens.
There are plenty of batshit crazy crypto projects that'll give you upside-down dogfucker tokens with 800% yield for sitting around with your thumb in your ass.
There's nothing wrong with any of that, but...
DePIN ain't that. DePIN is about building something in the real world in a way that has never been done before.
DePIN is for folks who are curious, who want to experiment with something new, who want to be part of something rad, who want to build a better world.
DePIN has LOTS of challenges.
Not only are you dealing with complicated technology, you've got decentralization, which makes things way harder because every asshole thinks they're a king when they barely have suzerainty.
You'll also be up against class-A jackwagons who'd steal from their grandmother if they thought they could get away with it. They'll steal from YOU if they can, and from the project if they can't.
A project has to get SO MUCH right for this to work.
Along the way, I PROMISE you things will go wrong. The miners will break. The blockchain will jam. You'll lose your 12 words (or worse, you'll give 'em to some sorry scumsucker by accident). You'll lose rewards though no fault of your own, and you won't get 'em back.
If you do this *just* for tokens, the whole thing will suck more than it needs to.
No one is perfect, not even that handsome devil in the mirror.
So relax. They'll fuck up. You'll fuck up. That's life. You'll probably see good stuff as well. Let's shift focus to that.
The best reasons to participate in any DePIN project:
1) You are going to learn new things. To me, that's better than sex, but maybe I'm not doing that right.
2) You are going to meet some REALLY smart and awesome people. That is definitely better than sex no matter how you do it.
3) You'll probably make the world a slightly better place. It might be smarter. It might be safer. It might be more private. Hell, it might just be easier to get around.
z) Yeah, you'll earn tokens. In a bull run, earning monkey-bucks from the sky is about as fun a ride as you can get, but in a bear market earning tokens will feel like wiping your ass the wrong way with dry pine cones.
All this is to say: A bull run *may* be coming. You're *probably* going to have some big wins. You'll probably have a few that get away.
Enjoy the ride. Don't sweat the tokens too much.
Learn as much as you can about the projects you decide to take a chance on.
Embrace the new words and concepts and acronyms you otherwise wouldn't even know about.
Grab every chance to meet new people and hang with 'em, and remember...
Right when you start believing that this ride will never end, well, just before that, remember to get off the ride. This is real world crypto, yo. Fun + dangerous + rad.
LFG!!!!

Who else received this update from @OpenAI today?! Apparent the release date on the GPT store was pushed until Q1-24 because “a few unexpected things” have been keeping them busy 😂
