Zohran Mamdani just admitted why socialism doesn’t work, and he doesn’t realize it. That’s pretty remarkable. He said that, to him, socialism means the government gives you whatever you need to live a dignified life. It sounds great to people who don’t think about the consequences. The reality is he wants to take away the incentive to do anything. Mamdani wants to reward laziness. Most people will then be lazy, they won’t work, and society will collapse because there’ll be no products to sell and no taxes to pay people for doing nothing. Mamdani is saying a government check should be the default. That’s why socialism always fails, and why what he’s doing in New York is failing. He promised his supporters everything for free, and he’s quickly finding that’s impossible. His supporters would see they were duped quicker if he weren’t running a taxpayer-funded influencer operation to keep telling them the free stuff is still coming. Mamdani said it Thursday on Theo Von’s podcast. “Socialism, to me, it means that you will have whatever you need to live a dignified life and that it is the government’s job to deliver on that.” He said dignity is housing, childcare, and public transit, and that nobody should be priced out of them. That’s not a safety net. A safety net is for when you fall trying. What Mamdani is proposing is City Hall providing checks for people who don’t even try. He wants his people to decide what a dignified life is and assign themselves the job of handing it over. Councilman David Carr said it sounds like totalitarianism. He’s not far off. The same Mamdani administration that struggles to deliver the basics wants the rest of your life too. Mamdani is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, and this is the program. His philosophy is to tax the rich, call the basics of life a right, and then send the bill to someone else. That never works, and we already see why. Investors, residents, and businesses are already leaving New York City. Socialism makes people complacent. It tells the person who works that the person who doesn’t will be fine. Then the first person stops working, it snowballs, and the city that was supposed to be dignified can’t pay for anyone. I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating. Mamdani has never had a real job in his life. He lived in his mom’s expensive condo. He has the delusion that everything can just be given to you so you can get by. He believes that nonsense because that’s how he grew up. Mamdani’s parents failed him by denying him the basics of self-reliance, and now he’s failing New York City by trying to do the same.
