Who was responsible for her immigration status? Years later, she married Matthew McConaughey and became a U.S. citizen just three years after their wedding. Did that marriage help secure her citizenship? There are a LOT of unanswered questions here. Imagine a 15-year-old Brazilian girl arriving today, and deciding she’s not going home. How would immigration authorities treat her now?
