Today, MEAA members at the ABC are taking industrial action. We’re calling on ABC management to put forward an offer that delivers secure, fairly paid jobs – because those are the conditions that make quality journalism possible.

#QualityNewsQualityJobs I love working at the ABC. We all work extremely hard to tell stories that matter. But my colleagues and I are struggling to continue that work. We’re taking industrial action today to call on ABC management to provide an offer that provides quality jobs.

I love working at the ABC because we bring you the deeper conversations and analysis that help you understand the major events around us. And because our company can help you get through your day and hopefully feel a sense of connection to your community. 1/3 ⬇️

“Australia's journalist union, @withMEAA told the ABC it had been calling on the federal government to regulate AI. Chief executive Erin Madeley says generative AI is making it difficult for the public to decifer fact from fiction.”
The ABC was among hundreds of media outlets which reported on the incredible footage. Experts say the video was at least partially manipulated by artificial intelligence.

Freelance journalists are effectively being paid 59% less than they were, twenty years ago. In this context, I'm quite disappointed in @9NewsAUS for such poor rates of pay. Please sign this petition if you can. Everyone deserves a fair rate of pay.
