I saw a lot of Cregger stans argue that a 1:1 modern remake of Resident Evil 1 is impossible to pull off cause "the game is dumb" or "just watch the cutscenes chud" etc... i disagreed, so I spent this past week writing a rough script to prove it can be done, Thread below is that:

Movie called Dead Space is released. It's set in the modern day about a guy that shoots buff monster men that look more like Dying Light monsters. He shoots them with an improvised nail gun with a laser pointer taped to the top. But it has a section where the camera is over the shoulder for 30 seconds, he stomps an enemy and in the background of one shot there's Peng.
"What did that have to do with Dead Space?"
"Oh you wanted some shot by shot, boring retelling of the game? it was perfect, didn't you see the over the shoulder shots? this director totally got the games."

IMAGINE: Zach Cregger confirms he making a METAL GEAR SOLID ADAPTATION!
-Could be set at the same time as Shadow Moses, but it’s a beach in South America in 2026 and set during the day.
-Doesn’t include Snake, Ocelot or actually any of the iconic characters or enemies. Rewrites the entire lore on Foxhound and Shadow Moses.
- You’re told “if you want to see snake, go and play the game! MGS story is not that important, it’s the GAMEPLAY and how you FEEL playing it.”
- It’s apparently close to the game because he puts a random floating ration in the background of a shot and there’s a lot of sneaking around.
- Zach says he has an espionage movie already scripted but uses surface level references to make it MGS.
- Zach tells fans early on it could be set at the same time as Shadow Moses.
-Zach is confused about why there’s backlash about not including all key story and characters we associate with MGS
The film ends up being very good, but not an authentic Metal Gear Solid that fans have waited years for.
Hope this hypothetical makes sense.
