Our work using holographic optogenetics to study recurrent activity in visual cortex is out! This work was only possible due to the great collaboration between @AdesnikHillel and @BrentDoiron labs, especially co-firsts @GHandy50 @willyhendricks and myself nature.com/articles/s41593-0…

I'm looking for a postdoc to join my new lab. We use fancy optics (Multiphoton Holographic Optogenetics) to understand how neural codes drive movements.
I'm really into mentoring, and making the postdoc experience a good one!

New Preprint: The Logic of Recurrent Circuits in the Primary Visual Cortex. A fantastic collaboration with co-first authors (@willyhendricks, @GHandy50, me) and a great hand-in-hand experimenter/theorist partnership (Labs: @AdesnikHillel and @BrentDoiron) biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Proud to share some of our lab's amazing new work developing and characterizing new opsins for 2-photon optogenetics finally out now in Neuron! Congrats to the first authors and everyone else who helped in this collaborative effort! authors.elsevier.com/c/1eX3a…
Going to be a great lab!
The Oldenburg Lab website is now live! OldenburgLab.com The lab is opening up in May 2022 and will use light to study neural codes. Let me know if you're interested in being a part of it.
Check out our new preprint! We have a cool new transgenic cre-reporter mouse that expresses soma-targeted GCaMP7s and ChroME- perfect for all optical experiments in vivo! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Plus it makes for pretty movies! (Credit to @ianOldenburg for this one) Here we used holographic optogenetics to rapidly activate ensembles of individual neurons in L2/3 of V1 while imaging GCaMP7s responses.

Check out our preprint on a transgenic mouse expressing soma-targeted ChroME and GCaMP7s. Great for all-optical experiments like the 2p stim in this video! Big thanks to the Adesnik lab team and @AllenInstitute biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Summer is coming to an end but today in our #SLBOnlineSeries21 we are taking you to sunny California for a peek into the Adesnik lab at UC Berkeley. Check out how the lab is using advanced microscopes to crack the neural codes of perception!

Time to start mining neurons ⛏⛏
Excited to share and have been a part of this collaborative effort to make ultra fast AND potent opsins for 2p optogenetics!! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
