Balcony fire at 4am in Jefferson Place next door this morning
Very frightening for everyone, fantastic response from @manchesterfire
Like us, their freeholder won't sign the BSF agreement so they're living in dangerous homes
Could have been a lot worse!

Sorry is too little too late. Me on ITV arguing why Government & developers should now FINALLY pay the bill for cladding rather than millions of innocent victims and survivors. Thanks to @itvlondon and @RagsMartel for covering. #endourcladdingscandal @ritustweets @EOCS_Official
Government's Grenfell apology: "We're "deeply sorry".
Building regulatory system "failed", the Inquiry hears. But for victims, and the thousands still living in dangerous homes, they want action not words.

So @weareballymore don’t like this Times article which says the fire at #NewProvidenceWharf was minutes away from being another #Grenfell. They’ve called in lawyers rather than help #leaseholders. Be terrible if it reached a wider audience #sleaze thetimes.co.uk/article/new-p…

If we were told, the day after Grenfell, that 4 years later the same council would be sticking combustible insulation in a primary school + thousands of leaseholders would be forced into bankruptcy because their homes are wrapped in similar stuff, we probably wouldn't believe it.

Very important day for 100,000s leaseholders in unsafe flats due to to #cladding. 100,000s unable to sell, remortgage, because of this as well as living in unsafe homes.
The government will present its solution. Let's just hope its good enough.

One leaseholder living with the same cladding as Grenfell asked me, 'why are the government not holding freeholders financially responsible, when they designed, manufactured, and own these buildings?'. I’ve contacted @mhclg for comment. #EndOurCladdingScandal

Huge fire on the Brandon Estate in Kennington. @LondonFire did fantastic to contain the fire very quickly. Sadly the flat is completely destroyed

Dear Margaret, you’re not the first MP to have written to @RobertJenrick over the #claddingscandal by any means. If you have any more luck please let us all know ASAP because there are over 2000 affected buildings and #leaseholders are losing #mentalhealth and going bankrupt

The last week has been horrendous on the Quays. Large groups, no social distancing. It's been like Blackpool Promenade on a bank holiday weekend. Insufficient policing, no apparent enforcement of the PSPO by the council. It's mad here.

Wonder how every single reputable developer in the country flouted all these building regs?
Wonder how all the local councils ignored all these building regs& signed off buildings as safe?
Could it be @mhclg, that your building regs & lack of oversight are actually the problem?🤔
Just a reminder to those in power, the #claddingscandal goes much further than just the cladding on our buildings. Our lives are also ruined by missing fire breaks, combustable seals on windows, render, insulation, wooden balconies.. the list goes on @RobertJenrick @ChrisPincher
