As someone who usually pays for dinners for my entire family, girlfriend, friends, etc., and goes out with them almost every day, I'll tell you this: you guys have got it all wrong! We don't even discuss who pays the bill. Instead, we talk about making more money, building wealth, and elevating each other. I pay because I want to, not because society tells me I have to. And if I'm ever in a financial position where my girlfriend, family members, or friends have to pay for me, that's totally fine, too. What matters to me most is the time we spend together and the memories we create, not who's paying the bill. These societal expectations create unnecessary conflicts, making couples argue over money and their respective roles instead of focusing on what actually matters: growing together, building a better future, and enjoying life together. I've almost reached the point where everyone around me is financially independent and doesn't have to depend on me. They thank me every day for helping them get there, and that's worth far more to me than always being the one who pays. I agree with @leonabboud about the abundance mindset, but take it a step further. Don't just build an abundant life for yourself. Help everyone you love become abundant, too, until they no longer have to depend on anyone, including you. That's what true abundance means to me.
