We as a society need to see this and understand that we must stop trying to rehabilitate monsters who cannot be rehabilitated. Pure evil cannot be fixed with “restorative justice”. We have to stop enabling the violent criminal element in the name of social progressiveness

License Plate Reader rage is far and away the most uninformed, misguided, misled, unintelligent and short-sighted movement of my lifetime.

Can Darren Bailey just be quiet already? The 12 people who support him can start a Bingo club or something at their church. This is the best republican Illinois can do? It’s brutal

I can imagine why it would be unsettling to think the government is using Flock cameras to track down stolen library cards or people who got paid cash for drywall jobs. As a homicide investigator, though, I think it’s very reasonable to ask that I get to use them with cause.

This is the problem with media entities in 2026, they have a superhero complex and regard themselves as white knight truth guardians. News flash Peter, a judge and a jury verified the police’s claims when that video played in open court and they convicted that monster.
How would one know without seeing the video? CPD doesn't have a good track regarding covering up bad shootings. It's a journalist's responsibility to verify. Such videos are routinely released without incident or prompting.

I hope you and Mr. Nickeas are satisfied though. Did the body-cam of her being murdered five years ago satisfy your suspicions? Are you, random media entity, sufficiently satisfied she was actually murdered? Can we put this to bed now that you specifically are all satisfied?

Absolutely silly to me for a media entity of all things to lecture me about the police’s reputation with regard to telling the truth. HAHA. Your profession has never been held in lower esteem by the American public in the history of his country. Maybe the only lower than police.

I knew Ella French. It is my personal belief that she wouldn’t want the people who loved and cared about her upset or disturbed by the footage of what happened to her. She was the real fucking police. Cared deeply for others. She was selfless. She was a hero. We love and miss her

No way to explain to someone what it’s like to knock on that door and sit with a family after turning their world upside down and inside out.

Away from the serious side of people losing their lives. The family members and hundreds affected by one life lost. It is comical to watch cases play out in the media with the experts and especially social media keyboard warriors. Love to see any of these folks respond to a devastating scene, sit down with family members and deliver the news. A Piece of your heart is taken each time

It seems notable that the fatality rate of all shootings in Chicago is about 18%, but the fatality rate for shooting victims not afforded the courtesy of a 911 call is 50%.

Residents of the South Shore building targeted by federal agents blame the owner and property manager for “inhumane” conditions that city efforts did little to improve and which predated the arrival of immigrants. Read more: trib.al/ZdhsnYT

An 11 year old boy laid for hours in the street shot to death two nights ago in a spot that used to have technology that couldve gotten him help, and our governor thinks the concept that there’s crime here is a literal laughing matter. He’s making a joke of it. Literally.
Reporting live from Chicago, there’s no “hellscape” I’d rather be in.

Yesterday, an 11 year old black boy was found shot dead by a woman’s car as she headed to work. Almost 1600 people have been shot this year, 356 homicides. 147 of those shot were minors, 34 children have been killed. We are back to pre-COVID numbers, our city is out of control. Meanwhile, the city spent a billion dollars for migrants instead of the communities to pat their pockets. Brandon Johnson has a 150 officer security detail to protect him which costs us 30 million a year. Now all of a sudden he’s “pro-black” after the migrant money start running out. If you want to know what’s really going on, come talk to us in our communities. We’re tired and we want change to happen on the local level and for our politicians to love us more than they hate Trump. No matter who’s the president, our local politicians don’t do right by us. #Sad

Has the line ever been more clearer on wrong vs right, on ethical vs unethical, on responsible vs irresponsible, than it is on the Shotspotter “debate”? Imagine finding out your loved one died in the street, laid there for hours, and nobody called 9-1-1. So no one came.

Anyone who has driven to a Shotspotter emergency alert can tell you it is a more accurate and credible reporter of gunfire than 95% of human callers. From audio recordings, to mapped out geolocated markers of rounds, etc. The list goes on. This tech works, 130 cities know it.

I think the words of a Chicago trauma ER doctor to CFD paramedics as he inserted an intraosseous IV into a GSW victim on a Friday evening in mid-July put it best, “..Thank goodness you all found him when you did.”
