I've spent a decade in online learning and seen countless edtech cos promise to "reinvent learning" with a perfectly scalable, data-driven approach.
I think the future of online learning will look more like Noom and less like Lynda, Udemy or Coursera.

"Expert intelligence" - new feature of Gemini that allows buyers of an ebook to apply the knowledge in the book to their own projects. In this case, the advice in my writing style manual, The Sense of Style, is applied to a draft of the user's writing. I checked it out and it's really good -- the advice is very close to what I would have said.

It's the opposite of AI slop: personalized advice based on human expertise, facilitated by AI.
And what I love about this is that I'm getting actionable suggestions here AND Notebook is serving as a guide to Pinker's underlying philosophy of writing. So I'm learning deeper principles as I improve my draft. And of course everything in the Notebook response points directly back to specific passages in Pinker (and my own draft) with citations.

Real (but less sexy) race is at a) cost/quality/speed frontier and b) real-world execution (e.g. integrations).
More data than open-source AI is taking share from OpenAI and Anthropic. Open source has gone from 28% token share to 62% token share @vercel over the last 2 months. Chart from @rauchg
Super impressive given that the sum of OpenAI and Anthropic accelerated in July. So net token/AI infra demand accelerated even more than the acceleration we saw at the frontier. And suspect Grok growing even faster than open-source and we saw some of this in the @tryramp data.
Open-source AI taking share is positive for AI infrastructure demand as it lowers margins at the model layer and an open-source token costs just as much compute to produce as a frontier token. Nothing about open-source AI inference is “free.”
Most likely end state IMO is that closed, frontier tokens are 60-90% of economic value but only 15 to 25% of tokens.
