For those who don’t remember the famous Gavin stage of the 1988 Giro, Andy Hamster won the stage by storing flap jack in his cheeks to combat the cold. Trevor Brooking was second for the Panoramic team. That was when men were men.

Covered this as one of my first jobs for the Comic. One of the worst one day races I’ve ever seen.

Amazing tale and one of my favourites. Fallen Angel by the consistently excellent @willfoth is also well worth reading, as it tells the tale of Fausto Coppi. Then visit the Museo del Ghisallo, where Bartoli and Coppi are both commemorated.

Just a thought for debate. The contest for the green jersey has had as much influence on this years Tour as the battle for yellow… if not more

Amusing that Pogis switch to black shorts is viewed as a sign of impending doom. More a reassertion of cyclings core aesthetic values as I see it

Good news that the Tour has slashed the TT stages. Imagine how much time we’d have to spend watching riders dressed up as Count Binface if we still had four days of time trials
