As someone who hires designers: that's the wrong question. ChatGPT gives you a hundred options. We hire people who know which one is right.

Seeing this from the agency side. Clients care less about how many options we make and more about which one we tell them to pick.

Creative directors have been writing prompts for years. We just called them briefs.

Same with brand systems. AI makes the making faster. Deciding what the system should be is still the slow, expensive bit.

Only if the prompter has spent years doing it by hand. Otherwise you just get very confident average.

The interesting shift is that taste is becoming the bottleneck, not execution. The tools are getting frighteningly good

Linear set a bar that's genuinely uncomfortable to be measured against. Good problem to have.

Building software requires taste. Taste can't be prompted.

The gap between people who've actually leaned in and those who haven't is already showing in output quality. It's only going to widen.

The design system context is what makes this a real workflow shift, not just a neat demo. That's the piece that was missing.

Always find it interesting when the magic turns out to be uncommonly well-organised divs

This is exactly how good creative direction works too. One person who breaks things to find what's true, one who makes it repeatable. The mistake is hiring two architects and wondering why nothing ships

The jump from 'people know it' to 'people feel it' is the whole job of brand. Looks like you got there

Motion as a utility class is the right abstraction

The ones using AI to push the brief further are fine. The ones waiting for AI to catch up to their taste are better than fine.

The design-to-code handoff is still the most broken part of the creative workflow. If Claude Code closes that through Figma, it changes everything about how studios work.
