If a news outlet runs a story that the left have won a 'surprise' win and the far right have had a 'shock' defeat, we can ask ourselves, 'surprised who? and 'shocked who?' The answer seems to be themselves as they are the ones who ran a different narrative before.

As always, the media are clustering around #VichyNige like flies on sh1t. But the Green result is far more remarkable, as it happened without the massive publicity Reform was given.

And congratulations to @Ed_Miliband on his appointment . . . and again I very much look forward to working with him to address climate breakdown and a just transition away from fossil fuels towards renewables

It’s time for a new chapter in British politics 🏛️

While I'm delighted to see the back of the Tories, this election should remind us that our electoral system is not fit for purpose. It should not be possible to achieve a massive majority on a minority of the vote.

It doesn't matter as far as winning elections is concerned. But on the day after, it does matter if you have policies that require taking most of the people with you.

How does the song of a Wood Warbler make you feel? The sound of hazy deep green light in ancient forests. The sound of peaceful dappled glades that provide respite from the hot sun. Listening to this song in southern England today made me feel something similar to grief.

It'll shock you, but here is a politician of integrity, sharing constructive ways forward and a message of hope. These things are possible! @AdrianRamsay @TheGreenParty #hope #generalelection24
We talk to the Green Party's co-leader Adrian Ramsay.
He's been a councillor in his native city of Norwich and has run two national environmental charities, and is standing in the new parliamentary seat of Waveney Valley which straddles the Norfolk and Suffolk border.

Can everyone who can please amplify this? Since the last General election we’ve had the hottest year globally on record and Britain has its hottest day in recorded history - an insane 40C, something meteorologists didn’t expect to see for decades. It’s vital we have a specific debate about the climate emergency we are in. It’s outrageous that it’s barely been discussed so far. Please tweet @itvnews @bbcnews @skynews @KayBurley @deborahturness @tombradby @ITNProductions
The overlapping climate and nature crises have to be a central topic at this election. I'm calling on the broadcasters to play their part by putting on environment specific TV debates. Now more than ever we cannot let this slip from the political agenda.
