Here we go 🙄
NEW - In a sit-down interview, premier designate Lorne Doerkson says he’s not ruling out an overhaul of the short term rental restrictions.
He also said he supports government employees returning to the office, but added he’s open to a “hybrid” remote work model. #bcpoli
If the conservatives thought they were in for an easy ride with a majority, buck up. @JM_Whiteside is a badass. She lived through the last round of conservative cuts at the expense of health care workers and she’ll fight ruthlessly to lead our caucus to stand up for BCers #bcpoli

Welp it didn't take long for the first bad decision from this new government

The Conservative camp has been trying to restrict media access this whole campaign. And now they're telling journalists to "go away".
Lorne Doerkson meets with volunteers and candidate Alex McMillan in Eby’s riding of Vancouver-Point Grey. It was supposed to be a photo op but a reporter asked Doerkson how he responds to Eby calling him a “Trojan horse” for extreme candidates. Here’s what he said:

I'm pretty shocked that Emily Lowan didn't rule out putting the Conservatives in power yesterday.
They would be catastrophic on Indigenous rights and environmental protection, and countless other progressive causes.
The answer to this question should be clear: rule it out.
You should be able to enjoy a night on Davie St and not have to worry about running into Maragareta and her racist friends.
You should be able to enjoy a night out and get home without looking over your shoulder.
A Conservative government will:
🍺 Remove PST on Canadian alcohol to save BC pubs & nightlife
👮 Hire hundreds more police & prosecutors to crack down on street crime
🏥 Get people struggling with addiction & mental health issues into care
Safe streets and great nightlife go together. @ConservativeBC will deliver on both.

The party of "we'll cut your taxes, but magically not any spending" and "we promise we're not in it for the millionaires and billionaires" getting endorsed by the ghost of HST made me chuckle today.
Gordon Campbell proudly served Vancouver-Point Grey for 15 years.
I'm honoured to have his support as I seek to serve the community he represented for so many years.
Together, we share a belief in new ideas and a brighter future for BC. #BCpoli

Not only will the BC NDP always support a united Canada - but we're clear that there's absolutely no room for separatism in our party.
Why are Conservative MLAs Bryan Tepper, Heather Maahs, and David Williams in the separatist BC Prosperity Project Facebook group?🧵

The BC Cons have finally released their full costed platform
They are saying their deficit would be smaller than the current NDP's path because of mostly 2 things: "new revenues thanks to the 'pro-growth' agenda" (that's about 2.6b by the 3rd year) and "spending restrains" (reducing the contingency vote, which is a good thing, but also some vague 'efficiency' stuff and a hiring freeze) (that'd would save about 4b by year 3).
The two combined allow the BC Cons to promise new spendings on other things and the massive tax cut (cost of almost 3b) and still have a lower deficit.
Up to you to believe these numbers. The 'pro-growth' stuff seems especially made up. Like "hey the growth is projected at 2.1%, our plan would raise it to 2.8% just because". I don't see any reference or sources for this claim

I am astounded. What does Heather Maahs have to do before Lorne Doerkson does something?
I'm glad the rest of BC has noticed @HeatherMaahs and her awful views.
One thing that's been missed: her blog post supporting a slave auction in a school, and **putting a student in blackface** in school productions of To Kill a Mockingbird. #bcpoli

“I am trying to get that ready to go before we go to advance polls."
Today is the third day of advance voting. How bad is his costing that he's *still* hiding it?

Mark Marissen’s list of L’s now is:
❌ Kareem Allam
❌ his own failed mayoral campaign that got him and his party banned from this election
❌ Hector Bremner’s mayoral campaign
❌ Michael Lee’s failed BC Liberals leadership bid.
How do they keep throwing money at this guy for these kind of results @vancolour ?
Silver lining for @kareemformayor:
He's almost doubled @marissenmark's 2022 percentage of the popular vote in the mayor's race
Lesson for any future aspiring municipal politicians: if Mark's involved, run in the opposite direction as fast as you can
I personally would not like our next premier to be a racist with creepy youth pastor energy, but what do I know!
Aaron Gunn is campaigning for Lorne Doerksen. Don’t be fooled…he’s only campaigning for himself! Doerksen is nothing but a seat warmer…#NeverVoteConservative
