We have blocked a small number of people on this site. Our account is run by Eileen and a team of volunteers, all of whom manage the posts in between the core helpline work. Its extremely upsetting for people doing stressful work answering helpline telephone calls to have pages of nasty messages directed at them. We believe some of these messages relate to the funding of @WBINC_Doc which has nothing to do with us. Our helpline has supported over 17k whistleblowers and 10k families of abuse victims and those people answering those calls and supporting people in crisis do not need to be reading nasty posts.
1. For those following and interested: #LeicsCountyHall has acknowledged my Code of Conduct complaint about Cllr #MJSquiresReform and confirmed it will be considered under its complaints process.
The Monitoring Officer will contact me after the initial assessments.

There was little change on the MRI.
A small piece of good news, but by this point every scan, every appointment and every conversation seemed to bring another reminder of how serious everything had become.
One of the play specialists came into the room today to explain about the radiotherapy mask.
This was all becoming too much.
It wasn't happening.
Or at least, my mind couldn't take it in.
I couldn't get my head around the fact that my daughter was now preparing to have radiotherapy to her brain and spine.
They showed us pictures from a file explaining what would happen.
I remember looking at them and thinking that this couldn't possibly be our life.
Charlotte told me that the pain and discomfort in her neck and shoulders had eased.
That was something.
She had also decided to wear an eye patch.
They had blocked out the left-hand side of her glasses to help with her double vision.
But even then, Charlotte was worried about how she looked.
She was concerned that she appeared to look weird and didn't want to draw attention to herself.
That really upset me.
She was still a young girl who cared about how she looked and what other people thought of her.
Even with everything she was facing, she was still worrying about being noticed.
She shouldn't have been thinking about radiotherapy masks, eye patches, tumours and hospital treatment.
She should have been worrying about completely ordinary teenage things.
Instead, cancer had taken over her life.
I was beginning to realise just how much of her young life this illness was taking away.

The latest FOI response from #LeicsCountyHall leaves #MJSquiresReform’s claim unsubstantiated.
It points to the general treasury strategy, not evidence that Cllr Fowler made the specific £26.9m repayment decision.

Young people in care are being moved around constantly, often because local authorities are trying to save money. But what they’re forgetting is that the trauma this causes will inevitably put even more pressure on their services further down the line.
The consequences can be devastating, with many struggling with their mental health and, as we’ve seen recently, far too many falling into incredibly difficult circumstances and tragically taking their own lives.
We have to stop looking at the short-term cost and start looking at the long-term human cost. You cannot save money by creating more trauma. #facts

Imagine discovering that, while you were fighting for answers about your son’s death, a government minister was discussing how to isolate you.
That is what happened to me.
In 2024, I was shown WhatsApp messages reportedly sent by Nadine Dorries to Matt Hancock while I was campaigning for a statutory public inquiry into mental-health deaths in Essex.
One message read:
“We aren’t going there… I’m picking off the other families and speaking to them one by one to get them on side to isolate her.”
I was “her”.
I was a bereaved mother asking the Government to investigate how my 20-year-old son, Matthew Leahy, died while detained in an NHS mental-health unit.
During the parliamentary debate on 30 November 2020, Nadine Dorries also stated that Matthew had taken his own life. Barbara Keeley MP immediately challenged this because Matthew’s inquest returned an open narrative verdict and I did not accept that account. Hansard was later formally corrected to say that Matthew “died by hanging while he was in the care of the NHS”.
After more than 105,000 people supported my petition, the Government established only a non-statutory inquiry—without the power to compel witnesses to give evidence. It eventually became unworkable because of poor staff cooperation and was not converted into a statutory inquiry until 2023.
No bereaved mother seeking the truth should ever be viewed as someone to be isolated, managed or silenced.
I was not the problem.
I was exposing the problem.
I am still here. I am still asking questions. And I will continue fighting for truth, accountability and safer mental-health services.
For Matthew—and for every family who deserves answers.

Too many young people in our care system are being forced out of their boroughs, sent miles away from their communities, schools and support networks. We know the anxiety and instability this creates.
Yet we are still having the same conversations about children in care that we were having 15 years ago.
Other sectors have evolved. They have improved. They have changed with the times.
So why hasn’t our care system?
Too many young people are leaving care only to face a lifetime of disadvantage.
How many more generations must we let down before a government finally says, enough?
We should have the best care system in the world.
