@marcorubio must act for @Matt_VanDyke who has fought dictatorships across the globe
🚨 🇺🇸An American citizen is dying in an Indian prison. Matthew VanDyke fought alongside those resisting dictatorships and supported Ukraine against Russian aggression. Now he is reportedly wasting away in India’s Tihar Prison after more than 50 days on a hunger strike. Secretary of State @marcorubio and the U.S. State Department must act NOW. If an American citizen can be left to die in a foreign prison while allegations tied to Russian interests hang over the case, every American should be paying attention. This isn’t just about Matthew VanDyke. It’s about whether the United States protects its own citizens. Bring him home!

Almost 1,000 people who read me are following @Matt_VanDyke . He and six other Ukrainians have now been in Indian detention for almost two months. After being arrested on what are most likely baseless charges, possibly linked to a russian request. We can’t just stay silent. Their lives and freedom may depend on the world paying attention. Please read and share the quoted tweet. If you are in the U.S. — please sign the petition. Every voice matters.
An American veteran is dying in an Indian prison. Matthew VanDyke (@Matt_VanDyke)—founder of SOLI, who fought for freedom in Libya and Syria and supported Ukraine—has been on a hunger strike for 54 days in India's Tihar Prison. He was arrested in March alongside six Ukrainians on charges of terrorism and drone-related offenses. He suffered a leg injury in custody and has been denied proper medical care, medication, and contact with his family since mid-March. It appears India is acting on russian allegations. A man who fought against dictatorships and stood with Ukraine is now behind bars. This is not justice. It is political persecution. If you're American, this cannot be ignored. Raise your voice. Contact your elected officials. Demand action from the U.S. government. Share his story. Free Matthew VanDyke.

These revelations, if they were about a prime minister, would be potentially career destroying. London media would make it so. So the spotlight now falls on Scotland's media: are they fans with laptops or a proper independent media prepared to hold Ms Sturgeon et al to account.
The First Minister has claimed she 'forgot' about an encounter with Alex Salmond’s former chief of staff in March 2018 in which he mentioned 'allegations of a sexual nature' against her predecessor. news.stv.tv/politics/sturgeo…

How inspirational is this? 🌳 16yrs between the two photos at @BordersForest's Carrifran Wildwood. This is what can happen in a relatively short period of time when people who care come together. Find out more in their new book: bit.ly/2SiW5Qy

I have good friends in the independence movement and have always understood the emotional arguments for separation (even if I prefer the emotional arguments for unity). For me, the economic case makes unity compelling.
Scotland’s deficit has grown to over £15bn last year. That’s three and a half times bigger than the U.K. and this is before covid is accounted for. It is clear that separation will lead to breathtaking levels of austerity in Scotland.#GERS

This day in 1941, Richard "Dick" Winters volunteered for military service in the US Army. His intent was to spend the mandatory one year in the Army, then return to civilian life. Winters remained in service, and is best known for having commanded Easy Company, 506th PIR. #WW2

I wrote the 1997 Labour manifesto which created DFID. I have seen the good it has done around the world & for Britain and its influence. Please let’s not throw away the good ideas (and good people) who made it tick. They are needed NOW to fight COVID. bbc.com/news/uk-politics-530…

This really is an awful answer
"It's often put to me that the death rate...for care homes in Scotland is higher than it is in England and I just don't believe that" Nicola Sturgeon says she believes there is "at least on the face of it, a question of under-reporting in England" #Ridge trib.al/8vMb6ys

Trevor Phillips is a patently decent honourable man. The Labour Party is entering the last swirl of the down-the-plughole moment.
The pace at which the Labour Party is digging its own grave has accelerated as the middle-class zealots in charge cast out sensible Trevor Phillips who has done a great public service in warning against the madness of uncontrolled identity politics. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51797316
