ALT The Writers Guild of America East will no longer be active on X.com. The racist and antisemitic language generated by X.com’s AI (“Grok”) after a software update directed by Elon Musk is further evidence of the urgent need for common sense regulation and oversight of artificial intelligence technology. We look forward to engaging with you on other platforms.

ALT STOP THE CUTS: SAVE PUBLIC MEDIA! Cutting the funding that supports PBS shows would not only impact me and everyone who works on PBS shows (job loss has already happened)... the biggest impact will be on our child viewers. Research consistently shows that children who watch PBS Kids content demonstrate significant gains in essential school readiness skills. This is a vital resource for all children, particularly those in underserved communities who may not have access to other educational resources. - PBS Writer, 10+ years CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE (202) 224-3121

ALT STOP THE CUTS: SAVE PUBLIC MEDIA! Our film project won an NEH grant in 2023. Contracts were signed, and eventually we got full funding and went into production. Now, as the film is deep in post-production, the administration simply terminated the funding from one day to the next. What kind of person, what kind of organization, what kind of government just does not honor a contract signed two years before? Most Americans would regard a contract as a promise and a legal obligation. Can it be that our government itself has become a deadbeat? - PBS Writer, 10+ years CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE (202) 224-3121

ALT STOP THE CUTS: SAVE PUBLIC MEDIA! Over the past five years, nearly all of my jobs have been PBS: Alma's Way, Phoebe & Jay, Weather Hunters, and American Experience. All of them will be seriously affected by cuts to public media - productions halted mid-stream, fewer scripts handed out, and no chance of a new season pickup. It's not just a job, although it's a deeply satisfying one. I have loved it my entire life as a viewer: being able to watch some of the smartest, best TV programming our country has to offer, no matter what my age. And all for free! - PBS Writer, 10+ years

ALT “The Writers Guild of America East stands behind the exemplary work of our members at “60 Minutes” and CBS News. We wish their bosses at Paramount Global had the courage to do the same. This settlement is a transparent attempt to curry favors with an administration in the hopes it will allow Paramount Global and Skydance Media merger to be cleared for approval. Paramount’s decision to capitulate to Trump threatens journalists’ ability to do their job reporting on powerful public figures.” The Writers Guild of America East represents writers at “60 Minutes,” CBS News, CBS News 24/7 and CBSNews.com
