I appreciate @phillevota convening this group and asking for my involvement. While the Chiefs and Royals are a loss to Eastern Jackson County, we are faced with an exciting opportunity for redevelopment that enhances our community.
Jackson County is taking its next step toward reimagining the future of the Truman Sports Complex following the expected departures of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals by 2031.

Independence was a leader in regional transportation & invested significantly. Citizens routinely rated bus service a low priority & I think it was because the service was reliable. It’s very expensive with no ROI. A regional solution is still out there.

Costco is building apartments above its stores to address the affordable housing crisis, starting early this year.
Walking downstairs and getting a $1.50 hot dog gives new meaning to “affordable walkability.”
It includes free membership, a rooftop pool, fitness area, gardens/ courtyards, and a community space.
Los Angeles is the first residential complex with 800 apartments and a built-in store.

This partnership with @JacksonCountyMO has not worked well. As usual, when the County says “Just call us and let’s have a discussion” they don’t mean it and never respond. Another County owned building they have neglected to maintain. theexaminer-mo.newsmemory.co…

If you want to help seniors in @JacksonCountyMO stay in their homes, don’t jack up their property assessments and make them stand in line for hours to appeal disastrous decisions. Asking voters to approve an increase in property tax is ludicrous.
News flash: the state legislature can move money around in the General Fund. Voting no on Amendment 2 doesn’t help education or any other state program. If you want to prevent legislators from defunding education, elect better legislators.
