Lula victory speech: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. We cannot have monstrously huge corporations earning millions & billions, paying no taxes to this country & trying to steer this country's election results."

I’ve not seen Digger but if this is true, then I’ll probably enjoy it because this thesis is completely correct. Vonnegut nailed this forever ago
Replying to @DeathbyCeltics
Digger is a movie about how power is power. Vibes aren’t power, people aren’t power, art isn’t power. Only power (usually in the form of money and control over productive technologies) is power.

Golf Cart One (2026) - my new sculpture at the @lucasmuseum in LA. A life-sized, cast-aluminium, militarised presidential golf cart, commissioned for the museum by George Lucas and based on a 1:12 scale model version I made back in 2017.

Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.
Replying to @hilbertspaess
The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.

No Chief Rabbi, this is truly a GOOD day for British Jews The most senior British Jewish politician @Ed_Miliband has called out the appalling crimes of the state of Israel which falsely claims to act on behalf of all Jews Your constant justification or denial of Israel’s crimes is a source of shame for many British Jews
This is truly a dark day for British Jews. Today our Government has chosen to ignore the deep concerns expressed by so many of us. The measures announced amount to little more than political flag bearing for mendacious anti-Israel rhetoric and those who harbour a dangerous obsession with the Jewish State. These measures will succeed only in bolstering the very extremism they seek to target. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah and at a time when our community is more vulnerable than ever to the wave of extremism that has been building over recent years, these sanctions do nothing to advance the cause of peace. Nor do they make anyone safer – quite the contrary. Gesture politics of this kind feeds into an increasingly hostile discourse about Israel, and the cumulative effect of such punitive policies is to further embolden those, at home and abroad, who use hatred as a weapon against Jews.
