With the @wef Trade and Investment Business Leadership Group. Catching up on current challenges, developments and trends in cross-border trade and investment. Uncertainty and regulatory instability are seen as the biggest challenge and are serving as deterrents to investment. Resilience continues to characterize cross-border trade aided by diversification and reconfiguring of supply chains. Predictability of global trade rules much valued, especially in the context of the ongoing trade turbulence. Strong support for reform of the MTS. Many thanks to @wef, Alois Zwinggi for organizing this meeting, to H.E. Minister Grace Fu of Singapore @MTI_Sg for her excellent interventions and to the many CEOs who participated with valuable insights and guidance and with a shared vision for the challenges and opportunities in front of the MTS.

Now that #Davos has come to a close, the message from this week feels even clearer.
In my recent @FT op-ed, I wrote about the growing gap between global risks and our ability to act collectively.

Great to finally welcome @elonmusk to #Davos.
His conversation with Larry Fink on AI, robotics and the future of technology reflected both ambition and optimism about what lies ahead.
Innovation is moving fast, and with the right leadership and collaboration, it can be a powerful force for progress. #wef26

We also spoke about what it takes to keep dialogue alive in a world shaped by self-interest and uncertainty. Dialogue is a necessity, not a luxury. When more than 65 heads of state and government come together, the goal is to find common ground, even in difficult times. Of course, we can only bring the horses to the well. We cannot force them to drink the water.

In a more fragmented and uncertain world, co-operation cannot wait for perfect consensus.
In a new op-ed for the @FT, I argue that governments can learn from how the private sector collaborates: moving forward with partners who are ready, rather than waiting for universal buy-in.

We have Davos taking place against the most complicated geopolitical backdrop since 1945. But so far it seems like players have still been able to find ways of continuing business and investment. So 3.2% growth isn’t bad. @TIME time.com/collections/davos-2…

A new competitive order is taking shape as major powers seek to secure their spheres of interest. In this shifting landscape, where cooperation looks markedly different than it did yesterday, collaborative approaches and the spirit of #dialogue remain essential.
