Hey pensioners of Scotland, Remember when you were told your pension was safe if you voted no to independence. Well you're about to become poorer as they remove the triple lock to help pay for social care in England 😉 Happy retirement.

Too on point not to share, “Aussie reply to Trump rant about NATO not being there for us. Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage. You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail. Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates. Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you. And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again. And you're calling Greenland poorly run? Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no. "NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years. And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess. So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your fucking mouth. Credit (borrowed from) Jim Scroggins - original author 📷 unknown”

I own a duplex. My tenant downstairs is a single mom with a newborn. Rent is due on the 1st. It was the 5th, and I hadn't heard from her. Usually, I send a late notice. It's a business, right? But I went down and knocked instead. She opened the door holding a crying baby. She looked like she hadn't slept in a week. "I'm so sorry," she panicked. "My maternity leave was unpaid and my car broke down. I have $200. I can get the rest by Friday." I looked around her apartment. It was bare. She had sold her couch. "Keep the $200," I said. "In fact, don't worry about rent this month." She stopped crying and stared at me. "What?" "Take the month," I said. "Buy groceries. Fix the car. We'll start fresh next month." I lost $1,200 that day. But the look of pure relief on that mother's face? Worth every single penny. A lease is a contract, but humanity should always be the fine print.

You do nothing when either set of supporters litter the streets of other cities and towns, vandalize stadium toilets and seats or even set off fire alarms and delay matches with use of pyrotechnics and tennis balls. The failure to deal with their behaviour previously is what lead to today's incident. Their hooligans don't fear reprocussions because they never face any consequences.
The Scottish FA condemns the behaviour from supporters entering the field of play following today's Scottish Gas Scottish Cup Quarter-Final at Ibrox Stadium. An investigation will be carried out immediately in line with the Judicial Panel Protocol.

Football sectarianism in Scotland is like the Epstein files. It’s the best distraction ever from the political issues that affect us all. Until, as Scots - whatever our stripe- we recognise that this poisons our potential as a nation we will always be ‘small’ and ‘pathetic’.

The quicker the Old Firm go down to England the better for everyone. Two sets of total mentalist entitled fanbases who are whataboutery masters in deflection. Taking no accountability for their behaviour or songs, happy to act superior then claim to be victims when it suits them.

Taylor is using a classic propaganda trick. The Barnett formula doesn't "give Scotland back all its tax plus £2,600 more." It isn't based on tax at all — it only adjusts Scotland's block grant when England's departmental spending changes. Scotland raises around £88.5 billion in public revenue each year. The block grant is about £41 billion, just 46% of that. So Holyrood directly controls less than half of the money raised in Scotland; the remaining 54% is controlled by Westminster. That 54% is UK spending in or charged to Scotland, mostly pensions, military spending, and UK debt servicing. The "£2600 more per person" is simply a spending-per-head figure. It's not a 'gift' or subsidy and is funded by UK borrowing, borrowing serviced from Scottish taxation and underpinned by Scottish resources. So most of that supposed "extra" is London-controlled welfare, defence, and debt payments. Money Scotland neither decides on nor directly receives. In short: Barnett is a mechanism of control that conceals extraction.
The Barnett formula does not give Scotland a “share” of the tax cash we send south. It gives Scotland all of that cash, plus substantially more. About £2,600 more *per person* in Scotland.

Reminder: In July 2024 @theSNP tabled an amendment to the King's Speech calling for the abolition of the two-child benefit cap. 36 out of 37 Scottish Labour MPs voted against the amendment, with one not voting. xitter.cf/ginadavidsonlbc/status…
Rachel Reeves confirms the 2 child benefit cap is to be scrapped from April "fully funded". Says 100,000s of children have been pushed into poverty bcs of the policy. "I don't believe children should have to bear the brunt" she says.

🔍 Galling to see Scottish Labour MPs welcoming the end of the two-child cap, given they refused to back the SNP's move to scrap it last year. 💛 The Scottish Government had committed to scrapping the cap - which has clearly forced Labour to follow our lead.
