I'd like to highlight a couple notable election-related alerts from @CISAgov & @FBI this week, put in context some recent news, & frame my main areas of concern for threats to the 2022 election (NB: it's not just "Midterms", as there are statewide elections).

In case anyone's been wondering what my life's been like since I left academia. This has been a great fit for me, and I'm always happy to chat about what applying PhD skills in the private sector might look like for folks considering a similar shift. #AltAcChats #phdchat

If there’s one message I want to cut through to everyone in this country, it’s this: The vaccines are safe. For yourself, your family, your community, our country — take the vaccine when it’s your turn and available. That’s how we’ll beat this pandemic.

Well, this post is long overdue (apparently having kid #2 decreases my Twitter use) but happy to announce that this week I officially returned to my national security roots and started as a senior analyst at RS21. Why leave a TT position? #altacademic #AcademicTwitter #phdchat

At some point in the several years of my PhD, we set down roots. Built a support network, had family relocate for us, etc. That was invaluable, and it's something that too often academics have to sacrifice. I didn't want to give that up. #altacademic #AcademicTwitter #phdchat

Bottom line? Don't be afraid to do what's right for *you*. Professionally &personally. And build a network that is going to empower you to make those decisions -- I'm very grateful that I've had so many mentors, friends, co-authors, etc that have supported me along the way.
