Even with drought conditions, central Arkansas trees are producing some very nice fall colors. The sunny warm days and clear cool nights over the past few weeks helped. #arwx
Wow! The colors from this sunrise in central Arkansas this morning are spectacular! #arwx
This is a wash, rinse, repeat forecast for the next week - 10 days for central Arkansas. Sunny days and clear skies at night for the most part, with some occasional clouds. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and lows mainly in the low 50s. It looks like our next rain chances will show up near or just after Halloween, but as of today, amounts would be less than an inch for central sections. Dry... Dry... Dry... #arwx
It's been a beautiful weekend across Arkansas, and the nice weather will continue well into next week. High temperatures will gradually warm as we move through the week into next weekend, with highs in the low to mid-80s. Overnight lows will fall into the 40s to start the week, gradually warming into the 50s by next weekend.
All the major models look dry for the most part through the end of October, with the Euro bringing a frontal system into the state around Halloween. This is a different solution from last week, when there was a trend for a front to move into Arkansas next weekend with rainfall.
It now appears we're going to have to wait a bit longer for our next chance of rain. Probably not what you wanted to hear. I'll keep watching it. #arwx
Friday's daytime high temperature in Little Rock will be almost 30 degrees cooler than today! Fall is coming... #arwx
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue this afternoon/evening. A decent shower moved through Sherwood this afternoon, with the majority of the rainfall in western and northern AR. Hot weather will continue on Thursday before a strong cold front sweeps through and we cool way down over the weekend (compared to what we've seen over the past couple of weeks).
Pleasant weather will be with us to start next week, but then another ridge builds in with warm to hot temps from the middle to end of next week before a stronger cold front approaches by next weekend; this one may keep the cooler air around a bit longer.
The unfortunate news is, there isn't much rain in the forecast past tomorrow for central sections. And that bad news goes into next weekend, so if you don't get some rainfall today or tonight, the chances are looking slim. It can always change.
Enjoy the cooler weekend! #arwx
Radar picking up 120 mph winds just off the surface and just offshore south of Ft. Walton Beach at 6pm. The center of the hurricane looks to make landfall Destin/Ft.Walton Beach +/- area this evening. The souther part of the eye wall looks eroded but this storm will pack a punch.
Current satellite image of Hurricane Isaias at 4:55 pm. The hurricane is currently a Category 2 storm with winds of 100 mph/gusts to 110 mph. Some strengthening is forecast tonight, with landfall late Friday or early Saturday along the northern Gulf Coast (AL/FL). Increasing shear could impact intensity as it approaches the coastline. The latest model data brings the remnants into MS on Saturday, with a good chance of rain across eastern AR and a smaller chance into parts of central AR. NE winds will be gusty on Sat over the eastern half of the state, with clouds helping hold the temps in the 70s. As with any tropical system, expect changes. #arwx
How does a network with resources like @espn or ABC screw this up? #4 Florida beats #21 Ole Miss?
I hope you're enjoying the cooler weather in Arkansas this morning as temps are in the 50s statewide. The nice weather will continue with a mix of sunshine and high clouds over the weekend. High temps will mainly be in the 80s and lows in the 50s and 60s.
A gradual warming trend will begin late in the weekend and extend into next week, with high temperatures warming well into the 80s to near 90, and lows will be generally in the 60s. As we close out next week, moisture will move into the state ahead of a trough, and this could bring showers and thunderstorms to the state, with the best chances in the west and NW. Depending on how the upper-level pattern evolves, the rain chances could start mid-week in the west and then spread over the state.
Until then, only a small chance of rain is forecast for mainly north and west AR on Sunday.
Enjoy the weekend! #arwx
Little Rock topped out at 99 degrees today, and this should be the last "near 100" degree for 2026! High temps will still be hot to start the week, with mid-90s forecast for central sections on Monday, upper 80s to near 90 on Tuesday, and then the 80s for the rest of the week, with overnight lows dropping from the 70s on Monday to the lower and mid-60s to round out the week. If we don't get any rain on Monday, the only other chance is around Saturday (small chance), but the overall pattern looks rather bleak for central sections. The good news for those wanting cooler weather: as we approach October, the normal high/low temperature for Little Rock is 80/57, and that drops to 68/45 by the time we get to Halloween! #arwx
I think this is what Arkansans’ have been waiting for. If the EURO is right, Wednesday and Thursday mornings will give you a nice taste of fall. Low temps in northern Arkansas could fall well into the 60s with some upper 50s in spots, with afternoon high temps in the 70s and 80s. The transition to fall may finally get started. #arwx
I just looked a the long range weather data and it’s not good if you’re looking for somewhat normal temperatures or rainfall for September. Although the big ridge off high pressure that is bringing us this hot weather may shift to the west a bit late next week, model data builds it back going into the week of the 14th. High temps will wobble between upper 90s/near 100 to the middle 90s with only isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms shown. The pattern shows some changes going into the 20th but that’s too far to forecast. September is now just an extension of August. #arwx
Lots of growing cumulus clouds around central AR at noon. West/NW of Maumelle I see a nice rain shower. I like our chances through the afternoon and evening. #arwx
