The best way to describe the Putin and Zelenskyy is an old Persian proverb: "A wise enemy elevates you; a foolish friend brings you to the ground." Even if Zelenskyy is not corrupt, and even if he was democratically chosen by the majority, he is genuinely inexperienced and ill-equipped for this position. Perhaps he would have made a good defense minister, but courage alone is not enough for a politician, and the Ukrainian people are paying a heavy price for his poor decision-making. Ironically, there is a massive smear campaign right now against @realDonaldTrump for buying diesel from Russia, yet you never see any outrage over the fact that Europe has NEVER stopped buying Russian gas (selective outrage, sounds familiar?). Ukraine possesses immense human and natural resources, along with a highly strategic location; Russia is not the only actor eyeing these assets. Europe is also exploiting Ukraine, heavily and with profound hypocrisy. There is endless public outrage over civilian casualties in Gaza, yet complete indifference toward the loss of human life in Ukraine. There seems to be no appetite whatsoever in Europe to bring an end to this war. When this war finally ends, Ukraine will be buried in debt up to its neck. This is just another form of plunder, plunder disguised as compassion. There is a fundamental reason why a nation must maintain its independence rather than becoming deeply dependent on outside powers. The people of Ukraine deserve a leadership that delivers "true independence" and makes rational, strategic decisions to secure their long-term interests. P.S. To those who oversimplify this complex crisis to just "Putin’s aggression": diplomacy had a clear alternative. Ukraine could have implemented the Minsk II agreements by granting autonomy to the breakaway provinces, without ceding them to Russia. Instead, pushed by Western fearmongering that any concession would lead to total collapse, Ukraine defaulted on its commitments. Diplomacy could have preserved the nation, instead, bad strategy sacrificed it.
