It’s crazy that we are so far down the list of indecency that it’s not even part of the conversation that we are paying for Trump to fly all over the country everyday for months to campaign. How many millions does each trip cost taxpayers?

“This administration is cutting down trees and calling it progress, stripping rights away from people and alienating our allies, or worse, turning it’s backs on them in times of war. Stripping millions of their healthcare and nutritional assistance, while skyrocketing energy costs force families into the cold. I am not writing today to deliver a polemic or a partisan rant. You already know about all that is wrong - I say it is time to start focusing on what is right and what we can do to bring healing, hope and change into the conversation. Pick your poison, there is a lot of toxicity and treasonous behavior - our way out of this quagmire is through the ballot box. That is something I will never not be grateful for as an American citizen (and by the way, I define an American as anyone looking to come here and build a better life through hard work, no matter where they were born). Immigration is what makes us great; diversity has always been our strength. It is the secret sauce of American exceptionalism, and the failure to recognize that simple fact is the folly of fools. I think of the Battle of Ridgefield in 1777 often these days, and how the very brave folks of Colonial Connecticut stood up to the overreach of a mad King George III, who had sent his troops, led by William Tyron landing on Compo Beach (in what is now Westport), into Danbury to raid the depot containing the Continental Army’s supplies. (Connecticut was a crucial supplier of food, gunpowder, munitions and livestock). Connecticut militia, led by Major General Wooster (who gave his life in the battle), chased the British troops down Main Street as they headed back to their ships - and that act of bravery, outnumbered by more than two to one, galvanized support for the Continental Army in the state. It was an inflection point in the Revolutionary War, and we now find ourselves at another one, where we can honor the sacrifice of so many by participating in our democratic process.
