A 10-year-old girl was kidnapped in broad daylight. Hours later, two garbage collectors saw something that stopped them in their tracks.
It was the silver car police were searching for, sitting alone in the middle of a field. Dion Merrick and Brandon Antoine realized the missing girl could still be inside, so they pulled their garbage truck across the only way out, blocked the car from leaving and called 911.
For the next few minutes, they stayed there with the suspect trapped while police raced to the scene. When officers arrived, they rushed in, arrested the kidnapper and found 10-year-old Jalissa alive inside.
Dion and Brandon were just doing their normal route that morning. But because they were paying attention and refused to let that car leave, a missing 10-year-old girl made it home safely.
Some stories deserve to travel just as far as the bad news does. This is one of them.

WANTED: Sexually Violent Predator
On September 25, 2026 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Sexually Violent Predator Merle Wakefield's (DOB: 04/10/1957) GPS device alerted to "Tamper Mode" while working in Rancho Bernardo in the City of San Diego. Wakefield is supervised by Liberty Health Care (LHC) as part of the State's Conditional Release Program.
LHC responded to the scene and discovered that Wakefield's GPS had been removed and Wakefield was no longer at the location.
LHC notified the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and the San Diego Police Department.
Wakefield is currently wanted for violating the terms of his conditional release. He was convicted in 1980 and 1991 of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old and rape by force. Wakefield has been on conditional release since November 2024.
Wakefield stands 5'10" tall, weighs 230 pounds and has brown eyes.
If you see Wakefield, DO NOT APPROACH OR CONTACT HIM. Contact your local law enforcement law enforcement agency or call 9-1-1.

And Cornell’s response? The lawsuit alleges some were given the opportunity to MITIGATE THEIR CONDUCT BY WRITING ESSAYS.

Jerimiah Thomas Jones Jr., 22, was arraigned on September 18, in connection to the nearly fatal rape of a 17 month old toddler in Halethorpe, Maryland.
Maryland doesn't have the death penalty.
A surgeon who examined the baby said one of the injuries went completely through the vaginal wall and into the area behind the abdominal cavity, causing internal bleeding.
Jones was dating the child's mother and was home alone with the little girl and 2 other children.
Why do women leave their young children home alone with their boyfriends?
