1. The following is an unfinished saga of #racism & corruption; about how far one jurisdiction will go to cover up their misdeeds, the people who are complicit & the Australian #FirstNations man sacrificed to the God of Prosperity. #Justice4Mullins #BlackLivesMatter #Indigenous
The question is, would they have shackled a non-Indigenous woman to the beef during labour? #racism
UNBELIEVABLE. THIS IS AUSTRALIA IN 2026.
On the weekend, an incarcerated Aboriginal woman in Queensland gave birth prematurely by caesarean section after reportedly being SHACKLED to her hospital bed during labour.
According to The Guardian, she was restrained intermittently throughout her hospital stay. Medical staff reportedly pleaded with corrections officers to remove the shackles. Some were reduced to tears. Her health reportedly deteriorated.
And just days earlier, on Thursday, Labor and the Coalition blocked Senator @SenatorThorpe's bill to ban women being shackled during childbirth.
They were warned. They had the opportunity to stop this. They refused. @DavidPocock
@DavidShoebridge and @SenatorPayman all strongly support ending this barbaric treatment of mothers and babies.
Australia endorsed the UN Bangkok Rules, which explicitly prohibit restraints during labour, childbirth and immediately afterwards.
Queensland Corrective Services has announced an internal review, insisting restraints should only be used as a last resort.
WHAT POSSIBLE THREAT DOES A WOMAN IN LABOUR, UNDERGOING MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY, POSE THAT JUSTIFIES CHAINING HER TO A BED?
This is cruel, degrading, dangerous and utterly indefensible. It is also totally unnecessary.
Women do not lose their humanity because they are incarcerated. Their babies do not deserve to enter the world under these conditions.
Australia must ban this practice. No exceptions. No excuses.

Last week Liberal MP Angie Bell called for the "stoning in the square" of the PM and a govt minister. Today we are watching and waiting to hear if independent MP Helen Haines survive a targeted attack.

Awful stuff. No matter how much you disagree with or dislike a politician, you get your say at the voting booth, not violence against the individual

Over a dozen masked settlers just attacked Turmus’ayya. Burned an American home and severely beat an American citizen, Chicagoan Mohammed Sakat. One town over from Abu Falah and was attacked on the same day. They’re really cracking down here.

Victorian MP Helen Haines has been hit by a car in what appears to be a deliberate act of violence.
A man is in custody. She is critical.
Victoria Police released a statement saying they have arrested the man who allegedly struck her in Wangaratta.
Police allege the man was driving the white Toyota Landcruiser about 3:35pm when he attacked her, and that there was a knife seized from inside the vehicle.
Of the 56 Australian women killed this year, about 10 have been murdered by men using vehicles as a weapon.
These targeted attacks are most often considered driving offences and the killers generally get significantly lighter sentences due to the lesser charges.
My call for a Royal Commission into the Killing of Women and Girls would explore this along with countless other failings in our systemic responses to femicide and gendered violence.

History, once progressed, is linear and irreversible. Australia is already multicultural, so what should we ask of anyone who wants to be Prime Minister?why Pauline Hanson's politics of conditional belonging fall short, and the best objections to that case

Let this sink in…
The skull had been taken to a local pub, where people used it as a communal ashtray, because they believed the remains belonged to an Aboriginal child.
Their disgust and remorse only surfaced when they discovered that the skull belonged to a murdered white girl.

Speaking from her hospital bed, American Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s suggestion that settlers were trying to help her up “such a lie and the biggest insult,” explaining: “They were actually trying to rob me further.”

People from across Sydney at major public rally in Concord calling for #doingdensitybetter, not simply stacking areas with towers.
We need a denser city, but must be well-planned & well-designed, everywhere it’s appropriate.
Currently no real housing affordability in any of this

Public administration runs on paper. A minute is written, endorsed, initialled and filed, and the officers who sign it are taken to know what it says. That is the purpose of the ritual: nobody can later claim not to have been told.

Interesting historical tidbit:
Prior to 1948 (specifically from 1925 until the end of the British Mandate on 14 May 1948), Jews resident in Mandatory Palestine could and did hold Palestinian citizenship under the legal framework established by the British authorities.

The IDF covered for a group of thugs who were bashing a woman journalist to death.
This is Israeli terrorism - this is why the world loathes them.
“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah.
Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah.
Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah.
"The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him.
Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.
