Renshaw returning from a three-year Test exile to score a career-best hundred, followed by a stunning 134-run ninth-wicket partnership. Australia going from 124-6 to 390. Markram batting for over 200 balls, displaying extraordinary resolve. Josh Hazlewood producing a sensational spell to register his career-best Test figures and put Australia 1-0 up. Boland, playing his first Test in South Africa, ripping through their top three before eventually claiming a five-wicket haul in the second Test. South Africa showing incredible fight, putting together two century partnerships after losing their sixth wicket for the first time in their history. Bavuma producing one of the finest Test hundreds you'll ever see. A career-best knock, built on immense tenacity against a relentless pace attack. South Africa going from 110-6 to 425. Marco Jansen unleashing a destructive five-wicket haul to bowl Australia out for 99. Travis Head producing a resolute hundred, with Boland showing extraordinary bravery to face more than 160 balls and keep Australia's hopes alive. South Africa roaring back to level the series despite losing two days to rain. South Africa making a strong start in the third Test, only for Starc's sensational six-wicket haul to drag Australia right back into the contest. Inglis, returning to the Test side after almost a year, smashing a sizzling 132-ball hundred to give Australia the lead and the upper hand. With just six wickets remaining, South Africa batting through the entirety of Day 4, as Rickelton and Mulder both scoring hundreds to wrestle the advantage back. Rabada striking twice in the very first over of Day 5. And then Harmer claiming his first ten-wicket haul in a Test to seal a famous series victory for South Africa. Every Test had drama, going into the fifth day every time. Every Test had its twists and turns. Every Test had a story to tell. Test cricket, bloody hell, eh?

Test cricket is the greatest format of the game. It tests every aspect of a cricketer: technique, temperament, patience, skill, discipline, adaptability, physical and mental strength. It exposes weaknesses and rewards character. T20 entertains, but Test cricket defines greatness.

South African series are always so enthralling. Need to find a way to make it 5 matches in the future. 3 has never been enough.

Time for some live test cricket at lovely Newlands. #SavAus

This is a massive three points in the context of our season. We've not really had a great record away at Palace but they've been poor this season and we produced a magnificent 2nd half display to get the win. I thought Horniceck, Schar, Burn and Nico were all excellent. Get in!
THREE POINTS AT PALACE 💪

What an unbelievable comeback from the Proteas. To be 1-0 down, having lost virtually 2 days to rain, to then be 110-6 and still win by an innings is simply outstanding. This team is full of fight, spirit and talent. The series is now well poised at 1-1 going into the Newlands test.
🚨 MATCH RESULT 🚨 What a phenomenal game, what an incredible display from #TheProteas! An absolutely heart-stopping performance! 🤩 Bavuma led the way with the bat, and our bowlers ran riot with the ball! 💪🔥 #TheProteas level the series 1-1 with a comprehensive victory by an innings and 31 runs! 🇿🇦 #Unbreakable #SAvAUS

Special moment for Aden McCarthy (22) for his first #UCL goal. 🇿🇦⚽️ Enjoying a meteoric rise since making his pro debut for Kaizer Chiefs in May 2025.

A defeat that I think a lot of fans saw coming. Villa have more quality than us and we have far too many players playing who are just not good enough. Its going to be a tough season, I'm guessing survival and just allowing the young players to grow is what it is all about. #nufc
Defeat at St. James' Park.

So good to see Kagiso Rabada running in and bowling with gas. Marques Ackerman is all set for his debut too.

I'm comfortable with the changes. Stubbs has a test average of 30 after 28 innings so far so just hasn't delivered even though I feel he has the game to be a successful test batter. Verreynne too has a test average of under 30 despite 50 innings so it has been an issue for a while. Rickelton down the order has the ability to be a QDK style batter which could be very useful. Hopefully Ackeman debuts in the 2nd test.
Dafabet Second Test Match Squad Announcement 🚨 The South Africa Men’s selection panel has today named a 17-player squad for the second Dafabet Test against Australia, starting on Sunday, 18 October at Dafabet St George’s Park in Gqeberha. There is one change to the squad from the first Test, with batter Matthew Breetzke replacing Tristan Stubbs, while Ryan Rickelton will take over the wicketkeeping duties for the second Test. Tony de Zorzi was not considered for selection as the left-hander continues his recovery from a left hamstring injury. #Unbreakable #SAvAUS

Honestly I wasn't expecting a result tonight but that was diabolical. Conceding 4 against a newly promoted team on the back of conceding 4 in the last away game too. We're just far too open and teams will punish you for that. Grim pickings. #nufc
Full-time.

Matt Renshaw playing a match winning knock here. Superb batting. Has been in control throughout. The Proteas just don't have an answer.

Massive wicket from Mulder, last ball before lunch! Get in!

Test cricket returns, as South Africa host Australia. It feels like Eid/ Christmas morning 😁

PROTEAS team for the 1st test: Markram, Rickelton, Bedingham, Bavuma, Stubbs, Mulder Verreynne, Jansen, Nortje, Maharaj, Harmer. No Rabada as he is being given extra time to prove his fitness ahead of the 2nd test.

What an incredible day as an #nufc supporter. Wanted to see the back of Mike Ashley for so long & it's finally happened. On top of that we now have passionate, patient, ambitious & committed new owners at the helm. Truly remarkable. #NUFCTakeover 📸 @NUFC_FAN_98
