Almost all voters never think about democracy. All they think about is their tribe, party, ideology, or who they belong with when they vote.

99. Same number. Opposite verdicts. In 2017, the BJP won Gujarat with 99 seats and was told it had nearly lost. In 2024, the Congress lost with 99 seats and celebrated. Nobody's seats changed after the count. Something else did. tusharpanchal.co/who-won-is-…

In Bihar, during SIR by @ECISVEEP, 1.6 lakh political party booth agents filed only two objections. The fight over who stays on India's voter roll has never been this big, and the opposition is doing more damage to their voters by not handling the problem properly. tusharpanchal.co/you-cant-te…

In politics, nearly everything can now be manufactured cheaply from connections to crowds. Everything, except belief. Belief is earned; you cannot buy it. That’s why I always urge clients to invest in the judgment that earns it, and in the person with the nerve to tell them the truth. tusharpanchal.co/we-can-manu…

Our ancient tradition has a saying about what powerful leaders lose first: nīra-kṣīra-viveka, which is the swan’s ability to separate milk from water. When you call every criticism a paid, anti-national attack, you lose this faculty. Victimhood feels like armour, until it's not. Check out my new blog on this and share your feedback. tusharpanchal.co/when-everyt…

Commentators are saying PM Modi "fell six points" in India Today's latest Mood of the Nation poll. But if you look closer, when there were 5 names on the survey form, he got 51.5%. With 3 names, it was 54.7%. With 7 names, it dropped to 48.7%. His numbers change depending on how many options are listed, not for any other reason. In my opinion, the judgement is measured; choice is manufactured. You may like to read my analysis. Your feedback is welcome. tusharpanchal.co/india-has-j…

India Today's Mood of the Nation is the country’s most-quoted poll, and its numbers are likely accurate. But that’s exactly the issue. We treat these results as what Indians truly think, but they only show what people are willing to tell a stranger over the phone. You may like to read what I decoded by reading between the lines. As always, bouquets and brickbats are welcome. tusharpanchal.co/there-is-no…

Thread (1/n) A recent working paper argued that India’s performance declined after 2014. A ministry adviser responded, and then the authors replied again. After two weeks of debate, in my opinion, nobody explained how the method actually works. Here is an explanation of the method itself, without the politics.

Both sides saw a leaderless movement that cost Dharmendra Pradhan his job and decided to exploit it. One side pushes; the other tries to take control, but both keep using a strategy that no longer works. A new article is live on my blog. Feedback welcome. tusharpanchal.co/both-sides-…

A meme movement led by @Cockroachisback forced the government to fire a Union minister. A strategist, @PrashantKishor, snatched a thirty-year seat from the BJP. Neither had what politics used to require. The barrier to entering Indian politics has collapsed on the very ground the establishment built its empire. A new article is live on my blog. Avoiding the question in Oslo cost more than answering it would have. A press conference is a twenty-minute item. The story about the journalist who asked, and what happened to her afterwards, went around the world. On India's missing outward voice. tusharpanchal.co/he-takes-no…

A company builds the product, then advertises it. The state-funded machine has learnt to work backwards: the name, the face and the launch day come first, and the scheme is built to fit them. The money is real. Its shape is political. New piece on my blog. tusharpanchal.co/the-name-co…
