Ignoring the material aspect of it for a moment which I feel is frankly secondary however critical.
Expanding ones nation is an invigorating revitalization of the nations vitality, characterized by a national struggle through the expansion of the frontier. This one in particular would increase the size of the united states by a fifth.
That is a great and historic achievement no less than past expansions be it the Alaska Purchase, Louisiana Purchase or Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. all of which we could not imagine the United States as we know it today without. This like the others would go down in the American mythos and continuing story of America that will last generations to come.
