That is the Fraser Institute’s ranking, and The Hub put the decade next to it. In 1999 the average American out-earned the average Canadian by $10,766. By 2024 the gap was $23,757. Ontario ranks 48th out of 60 states and provinces. Quebec ranks 55th. From 2014 to 2024 the United States grew 20.1% per person. Canada grew 3.2%. We kept pace until 2014. We were at 83% of American output per person. We are at 71.5% now. Same people. Same resources. Different rulebook. Those ten years have a name. The man who advised them is now the one calling a 0.7% per-person revision a recovery, parking the emissions cap, and talking about an American invasion in the New York Times.
