Software horror: litellm PyPI supply chain attack.
Simple `pip install litellm` was enough to exfiltrate SSH keys, AWS/GCP/Azure creds, Kubernetes configs, git credentials, env vars (all your API keys), shell history, crypto wallets, SSL private keys, CI/CD secrets, database passwords.
LiteLLM itself has 97 million downloads per month which is already terrible, but much worse, the contagion spreads to any project that depends on litellm. For example, if you did `pip install dspy` (which depended on litellm>=1.64.0), you'd also be pwnd. Same for any other large project that depended on litellm.
Afaict the poisoned version was up for only less than ~1 hour. The attack had a bug which led to its discovery - Callum McMahon was using an MCP plugin inside Cursor that pulled in litellm as a transitive dependency. When litellm 1.82.8 installed, their machine ran out of RAM and crashed. So if the attacker didn't vibe code this attack it could have been undetected for many days or weeks.
Supply chain attacks like this are basically the scariest thing imaginable in modern software. Every time you install any depedency you could be pulling in a poisoned package anywhere deep inside its entire depedency tree. This is especially risky with large projects that might have lots and lots of dependencies. The credentials that do get stolen in each attack can then be used to take over more accounts and compromise more packages.
Classical software engineering would have you believe that dependencies are good (we're building pyramids from bricks), but imo this has to be re-evaluated, and it's why I've been so growingly averse to them, preferring to use LLMs to "yoink" functionality when it's simple enough and possible.
I told myself I'd skim this AI paper.
An hour later, I had notes.
Meta's VL-JEPA might change how vision models work. Here's why it matters:

It's refreshing to see politicians being bluntly honest. And the drama is also a thriller with Congress.
After a long and successful day in Panama, i have to wind up at midnightvhere with departure for Bogota, Colombia in six hours, so I don’t really have time for this — but anyway: For those zealots fulminating about my supposed ignorance of Indian valour across the LoC: in tge past
1. I was clearly and explicitly speaking only about reprisals for terrorist attacks and not about previous wars; &
2. My remarks were preceded by a reference to the several attacks that have taken place in recent years alone, during which previous Indian responses were both restrained and constrained by our responsible respect for the LoC and the IB.
But as usual, critics and trolls are welcome to distort my views and words as they see fit. I genuinely have better things to do. Goodnight.
This is what real dishonest and vindictive Journalism looks like. How do people who support these guys calls themselves to be patriotic individuals? We are at war!! No problem if its done on a normal day, that is expected from these commies.

A lot of citizens are demanding for the CM of West Bengal to resign immediately!🙅
I'm not sure if she should resign, but this is the worst possible management of such a situation. The police force has been compromised beyond the point of repair. (1/n)
The game was played, the game is being played, and the game will continue (Kela hoeche, khela hocche, khela hobe). We’ll express our outrage on social media from the comfort of our air-conditioned rooms, but nothing will change.
The real problem lies with us, the citizens who continue to vote for the wrong options. We seem to forgive her for whatever she does, as if she’s shielded by some kind of Teflon coating. If there were an election tomorrow, guess who would win?
Police has always been with the Govt. Its not about incompetency but about intent. The issue isn’t with a single party or leader. We all knew how she came to power, and we've all heard her statements over the years.
