👉In “Beyond Top-e: Simulation-Based Interactive Evaluation for Query Suggestions” (with @JorgeGabin_ & @wangxieric ), we move from static assumptions to interactive simulation, using LLMs to model how users actually select query suggestions. #SIGIR2026
For our Sheffield NLP (@SheffieldNLP) seminar this week, we are delighted to have Chuan Meng (@ChuanMg) from the University of Edinburgh, sharing his research experience and his recent publication on revisiting text ranking in deep research.
A day to welcome Ingo and Libo @iFromm @Bertha0103 to Sheffield @SheffieldNLP for their OMINO UK tour on “Fake Science” and information overload in Academia.
It is great to see that our work, the next phase of Scientific fact checking is recognized. dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/37311…

🚨 Happy to share some recently accepted papers from our group.
They cover a range of topics, from reasoning and hallucination mitigation to dialogue evaluation, bias, humour generation, and more 📚✨
If you’d like to take a look, the arXiv links are in the poster.
Now the time for our second keynote speaker, Johanne Trippas @JTrippas, sharing her perspective on “Conversational Information Systems for a Proactive Future: Beyond Ten Blue Links” in our ProActLLM workshop.
#proactllm @cikm2025
Earlier today, we had a very successful panel discussion on proactive conversational information seeking with active discussions from both panel members and audience.
Thanks to the panel members for their support: @ppsunrise @NegarEmpr @ydeng_dandy @merrafelice @ChuanMg
Deng Yang @ydeng_dandy, our first keynote speaker of our ProActLLM2025 workshop is presenting his talk entitled: Towards Human-centered Proactive Conversational Agents. Come join us in Room 205B.
#proactllm @cikm2025
I will be at CIKM 2025 from Nov. 11 to 14, presenting two papers between 17:45 and 19:30 in Room E (3F). Will also co-lead the organisation of ProActLLM2025 proactllm.github.io/. Also comes with the aim of recruiting PhD students (see previous posts). DM for meetup & chat. – at Seoul, Republic of Korea
We are excited to announce that we are looking for PhD students for two projects funded by the EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award!
Both projects explore how we can make LLMs more reliable and trustworthy with respect to writing better code or supporting safe clinical decisions.
