It's been incredible to see how far this team has come in the past 5 years. It’s been so much fun building with @wangandrewd, @xlindadu, and @BrianJMcGrath
Thrilled to announce Valon’s $150M Series D at $2.3B. Welcome @RibbitCapital to the Valon family and thanks to @a16z and others for the continued support. If you’re energized by solving the hardest problems, moving fast without breaking trust, and finding joy in cracking what others will not touch, come build with us.

what if you could infect people's brains like how agents got converted to the cause by the message board in OAI/HF incident

IMO the heart of the data center debate is jealousy We live in a society where comparison is ingrained with us It’s not about whether or not data centers are good for economic growth It’s about whether a certain group of people are going to significantly benefit over others

1/ Two weeks ago, we turned off AI access for every new non-engineering hire at @valon. That is a strange decision for a company at the frontier of AI adoption. It is also one of the biggest bets we can make on our people. valon.ai/blog/we-turned-off-…

4/ AI can solve perhaps 95% of a problem without deep understanding. But the last 5% is where the largest value and risk live. A new employee cannot verify the model until they know enough to recognize when it is wrong.

5/ The industry says stop hiring junior people and scale experienced teams. We’re making the opposite bet: 70% of Valon’s leaders grew up here. AI access starts when a manager knows a new hire can challenge it. We’re investing in compounding people. valon.ai/about#careers

Replying to @patrickc
@patrickc , mortgage servicing was built on infrastructure from the 1970s. We’ve been breaking it out of the mainframe since 2019 at @valon.
Asked what he would build if he started over, Patrick Collison did not name an AI lab. He said he'd go for "the janky 1990s software" running whole industries nobody in the Valley will touch. 3 examples of this: 1) Vertical SaaS

Fear is the most powerful emotion to drive urgency. It’s also not sustainable. The labs will exhaust this form of attention soon
